Fountainview Academy exists to train earnest young people to be men and women of character, active in service and leadership, taking the gospel to the world. Here, at Fountainview Academy, it is our mission to display the love of Christ in a way that shows He is relevant and appealing. However, we cannot stop there. It is our aim that through the students, we can reveal the truth to the world. It out desire that our students will grow spiritually, not exclusively through study and prayer, but by sharing. At Fountainview Academy, Christian living and a desire to develop the intellect and cultivate each student's talents for the Lord are at the center of our focus. We embrace our unique academic program that has been carefully patterned after the principles found in the book "Education" by Ellen G. White. This means that we incorporate meaningful work into our schedule alongside time spent aiming towards academic achievements. It is our ambition that Fountainview's atmosphere provides, and will continue to provide, a safe and peaceful environment where students can safely grow spiritually, mentally, and physically. Although Fountainview is a mosaic of people from different cultures and varied backgrounds, it is an international community of Christians who strive together towards the highest calling: serving the Lord, wherever He may ask us to go. It began in 1975 when God inspired several Adventist laymen with a vision: to start a boarding school whose foundation was carefully patterned after the principles found in the book "Education" by Ellen G. White. And so, this dream was born into reality when these first founders transformed the old Earlscourt Farms estate, in British Columbia, into a school. Although it was only a fledgling experiment in education, God blessed their efforts, and the first enrollment of students launched this journey. Many things have changed from our school's location to its industries with time to the students who walk our grounds. Yet there is one thing that has remained the same and always will, our focus: to allow young people to develop their relationship with Jesus. Fountainview is a training ground for a wide range of workers in God's cause. Students may go from here to a university, a trades program, or directly into the workforce as a Bible worker or a mechanic. Our academic program has to meet students' needs and requirements called by God to any of these paths. As we continually seek to implement the Lord's directions in the book Education, we have been blessed with positive results. Our scores on government exams have been significantly above the average for students across British Columbia (which has one of the highest-rated educational systems in Canada and even worldwide), and the percentile of our average score on the ACT (for college-bound American students) has been 20 points above average. Whether they are called to be an engineer or a missionary, a pastor, a vegan chef, or a doctor, it is thrilling to work with fantastic young people who sincerely desire to serve the Lord.
