We welcome you to the Fazakerley High School. We are very proud of our school, our pupils and indeed our whole community. We offer a diverse curriculum with an emphasis on high academic standards and achievement. At the core of our mission is the aim to be a nurturing, well-run, and effective learning environment serving our local community where all our young people thrive as individuals within our school family, celebrate success, and aspire to achieve their very best. In Key Stage 3 English, Maths, Science, a Modern Foreign Language, History, Geography, and RE are studied as a foundation to the English Baccalaureate. The curriculum is further enriched with Design Technology, Computing, PE, Art, Performing Arts, and Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHEE) which includes Citizenship. Pupils also take part in an exciting termly program of ‘Dimension Days’ which encourages pupils to explore and develop their personal, learning, and thinking skills through a variety of current topical cultural themes or events. In Key Stage 4, The English Baccalaureate, which covers GCSEs in English, Maths, Science, Humanities, and a Modern Foreign Language, is embedded into the curriculum. Pupils also specialize more in subjects that interest them and stretch their abilities. They study a combination of both GCSEs and BTECs from a wide and interesting range of academic and vocational subject areas such as Engineering, Child Care, Art and Design, Sport, Business, Resistant Materials, Performing Arts, Dance, Construction, Catering, Textiles, Graphics, and ICT. SMSC stands for spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development. All schools in England must show how well their pupils develop in SMSC. The government has defined British values as being the following: democracy individual liberty the rule of law mutual respect tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. These values are central to our school ethos and are promoted not only through the curriculum and its content but through every aspect of school life including pupil experiences, display and use of the buildings, assemblies, registration period, the behavior code, extra-curricular clubs, and activities, respectful and sensitive learning community that we are. In school, the pupils are introduced to a range of beliefs and experiences so that they can make more informed choices for themselves. Pupils are taught the knowledge and skills to broaden the choices they are empowered to make about future work, travel, and education. In school, we do not believe that a diversity of faiths and beliefs is something to be tolerated but rather celebrated. We are emboldened and strengthened by our diversity. We promote the importance of learning and working together with those with different faiths and beliefs. Inclusion is about raising the self-esteem and attainment of all pupils, regardless of their background, race, class, gender, or disability. Fundamentally, it is about removing the barriers to learning. Every pupil has the right to develop their potential. Therefore, Inclusion is about opportunities and the framework to access those opportunities. Fazakerley High School embraces the challenges of creating supportive pathways to enable all our pupils to achieve positive outcomes, both in the learning and social contexts. As a school, provision is regularly reviewed and adaptations made to adjust to particular needs. This forward approach contributes to the greater good of all pupils' learning and entitlement: effective practice and levels of communication are deployed to best serve the community of the school and its pupils. Every child may experience a Special Educational Need at some point in their life: extra support with part of the curriculum, building confidence and self-esteem, a network of support in times of separation, loss.
