Al-Falaah College is a co-educational, faith-based Independent school that has established itself as a center of excellence committed to providing a holistic education in an environment that is infused with Islamic values. Catering for the educational needs of students from Grades 00 to Grade 12 in the Durban area, the College environment nurtures the innate ability of all students to explore and discover their Allah-given talent and achieve their full potential. The plethora of accolades, recognition, and awards received by the school bears testament to our success in achieving our mission. Al-Falaah College is proud of its 100% Matric pass rate, 100% bachelor passes. 43% of students achieved Distinction aggregates. Al-Falaah College has 225 Subject Distinctions with 3.3 Distinctions per learner. The obvious advantages of sports and an active lifestyle, have been the driving forces ensuring that the sports department includes as many practical sporting activities as we possibly can into our framework. A child-friendly environment, beautiful, colorful classrooms, highly qualified teaching staff (minimum qualification is a Bed Degree-highest a Med) who are friendly and dynamic. Small classes pupil ratio is 1 -20/25, Assistant teachers for Islamic Studies (1-3), Personalised instruction, Varied methodological styles-inclusive of innovative technology in teaching and learning, iPad lab, Intensive Reading Programme-Reading, Mums/Grandparents, Read for Africa Programme-a photographic approach. We participate in external Co-curricular activities like the Speech Contest, Spelling Bee, Spelling Aloud, Storytelling Competition. We participate with schools in this department circuit. We also write the ICAS external exam to benchmark our standards internationally. We write The Pearson Mathematics exam which displays pupil lags in certain topics. This helps the teacher when remediating problem topics. This also helps the high school to check standards of Mathematical competency in the primary school. Islamic Studies (Written and Oral) as well as Arabic form a compulsory component of the timetable for all grades. Educators are also encouraged to include Islamic content in all other learning areas. Special events such as Jalsa's, Tarbiyyah, and outreach programs are also held throughout the year. The dress code for learners is based on an Islamic ethos. Educators are also required to dress in a manner that is in keeping with the ethos of the school. As far as possible, high school boys and girls are kept separated. Hifz Classes are offered for both boys and girls. Classes are conducted from before the normal school day, continue during the school day, and extend till after the normal school times. Taraweeh salaah is also performed during Ramadan by the school learners at school. Physical education is an integral part of the school curriculum. In the pre-primary and primary classes, emphasis is on the development of gross motor skills, physical stamina, flexibility, and the development of team play. The skills of play are gradually introduced and developed so that our learners can play a sport with confidence and pleasure. Al-Falaah College provides learners with opportunities to participate in a variety of both individual and team sports. Qualified specialist coaches are employed to conduct training sessions at the end of the academic day in the following sporting codes. View full school
