      1. For more than 100 years, The Ethel Walker School has been preparing young women to make a difference in the world. At Walker's, we seek to foster and cherish girls' positive development into young women so that they may reach their full potential as astute thinkers and doers in the world. Our grounding values of integrity, respect, confidence, courage, conviction, and love of learning provide a solid framework for personal, ethical, and social growth. A Walker's education serves not only as preparation for college but for life itself in this century of constant change. Our graduates, whatever field they pursue, our societal engineers, reworking, and rewiring the very mechanisms of our world. Our ethos of warm receptivity to new ideas and people, as well as enduring and deep friendships over time, emerges out of Ethel Walker's philosophy of education and her desire to provide girls with a foundation for lifelong learning and intellectual curiosity. At Walker's, girls can be themselves, discover their true passions and purpose, and achieve their best performance in every aspect of life. The Ethel Walker School is an independent, college preparatory, boarding and day school for girls in grades six through 12 plus a postgraduate year. Since 1911, The Ethel Walker School has excelled at preparing students to make a difference in the world. Members of this diverse community are dedicated to scholarship, the arts, athletics, wellness, and service. The satisfaction of achievement and joy of friendship are fundamental principles as the School empowers girls to lead with integrity, respect, confidence, courage, conviction, and a love of learning. Knowledge will always be necessary, but what you do with that knowledge is even more critical. Walker's high academic standards stretch students to the place where they are motivated to direct their learning. Our faculty will guide you as you develop essential skills to meet challenges and opportunities today – and in the future – in whatever areas of interest you choose to pursue. At Walker's, students learn by doing. Students pose and present questions in their quest to master content. Through unique courses like Honors Biochemistry and Visiting Writer Seminar, students conduct real-world research in antibiotic resistance, and they participate in masterclasses with living writers. The effect of their experiences is immediate and lasting: Walker's girls become the intellectual leaders and stewards of their education. Through an iterative approach to innovation and creative problem solving, our students learn to design real-world solutions. Faculty and students work collaboratively on teams in STEM and Engineering courses and "think outside the box" to solve problems and create new ideas. Girls are equipped with the tools to flourish as joyful thinkers and hands-on doers to design their lifelong learning path. At Walker's, our 7:1 student-to-faculty ratio allows us to focus on each student's educational experience while preparing her to be an active global citizen. Through technology, classroom and fieldwork, and international travel, our girls gain a global perspective while learning and living in a diverse community. Everything at our school is designed for girls to make the most of every opportunity. At Walker's, girls can be themselves, discover their true passions and purpose, and achieve their best performance in every aspect of life. View full school
