The Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (Katholische Universität Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, KU) in south Germany is the only Catholic University the German-speaking world. Located in a popular tourist destination, the Altmühltal natural park in Bavaria's heart, the KU offers its approximately 5100 students all the advantages of a small university with a compact campus. Around 120 professors, over 300 research associates, and many lecturers with industry experience ensure that students receive excellent teaching and support. The KU has two campuses. Seven faculties are based in Eichstätt, while the Ingolstadt campus is home to the Ingolstadt School of Management. In both locations, the cafeteria, lecture halls, library, and computer labs are all just a short walk away from one another. The KU offers a wide range of different degree programs to suit many different interests and talents. Being a small university, it provides an excellent environment for interdisciplinary exchange between the eight faculties. The KU also has a robust global network with over 250 partner universities in Europe, North and South America, Asia, and Oceania. With around 5400 students, the KU is currently the smallest University in Bavaria. Many project results can be accessed via the KU's publication database KU.edoc. The Center for Research Promotion (ZFF) was established at the KU in April 2016. Its main task is to bring together, coordinate, and effectively support all university members' research activities. Although its main focus is on topics related to initiating, securing, and implementing third-party research projects, the ZFF is also the main point of contact for all questions regarding research strategy and those of a practical nature. It also supports the university management and the KU's central committees and bodies in the management of research processes in cases where this affects significant areas such as research excellence and profile development, equal opportunities, ranking positions, accreditation, or internationalization. The Center for Research Promotion is responsible for promoting young researchers through structured doctoral degree programs and research training groups and coordinates all of the KU's activities in this area as part of the Graduate Academy. Christian values form the basis of teaching, research, and the university community here. The University respects and promotes the freedom of research and teaching. The Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt is supported by a Catholic foundation established by Bavaria's bishops. The foundation is chaired by the auxiliary bishop of Augsburg, Anton Losinger. The grand chancellor of the University is Cardinal Reinhard Marx, archbishop of Munich and Freising and chairman of the Freising Bishops' Conference. The University is funded by the Bavarian government and the dioceses of Bavaria. As a member of the global Catholic Church, the KU collaborates with Catholic universities worldwide. As the KU is a state-approved university, the degrees, and qualifications that it awards are equivalent to those issued by state universities in Germany. The KU also has the right to award doctoral degrees and habilitations. It welcomes students of all faiths. The KU sees itself as an academic community that conveys knowledge and teaches social skills based on Christian values and the Christian view of human life.
