  1. King's-Edgehill School is a school of 350 university-bound students working and living together with a caring and dedicated group of teachers, coaches, and mentors. As the oldest independent school in Canada, we have a wonderful tradition of educating young men and women from here in Nova Scotia, from across Canada, and throughout the world. We trust that our website will serve as a source of valuable information about our school and our programs. Please look around the site and see the many examples of students as they take advantage of the opportunity to Be More at King's-Edgehill School. We are sure you will be impressed by our students' opportunities to learn more, explore more, compete for more, accomplish more, achieve more, care more, smile more – to do more and be more daily honestly. We urge you to visit our campus in person and experience our school and community for yourself. You will meet a motivated group of students and staff who display a remarkable diversity of strengths and interests both in and out of the classroom. Suppose you are interested in our school but would require financial aid to make a King's-Edgehill education possible. In that case, we encourage you to discuss financial aid opportunities with any of our admission team. Please feel free to contact me or any member of our admissions team to arrange a visit to our campus or if you have any additional questions. There is no more straightforward way to put it: at King's-Edgehill School, we help students be more than even they thought possible. How do we do this? Creating a world-class environment that supports our students to see more, do more, create more, compete more, and achieve more. We know how much you are capable of becoming. And it is our job to create the kind of transformative environment that will inspire and support you to be the person you have always wanted to be and live the life you have dreamed of leading. At King's-Edgehill School, small classrooms, committed, supportive teachers, and a deeply-held commitment to the life-long impact of a sound academic foundation make for an outstanding and world-class education. King's-Edgehill School is comprised of a Junior School (Grades 6-9) and a Senior School (Grades 10-12), in which there is the opportunity to pursue the rigorous International Baccalaureate program. We do not merely educate the class – we educate the person. Streamed classes ensure students are challenged, encouraged, and supported in a manner that suits their learning styles. The King's-Edgehill Junior School is a nurturing environment where young adolescents grow socially and emotionally while challenging themselves academically. A safe and supportive community where every student can comfortably learn with their academic brakes off, the Junior School is a place where every student's development and well-being are priorities. Students enjoy small classes and personalized attention from a dynamic and committed team of teachers and their advisors and coaches. Meaningful relationships are forged, and a positive and supportive climate provides the backdrop for student growth and development. The Junior School is a cultural collage of multi-talented young minds. This year, students from as far away as South Korea, Barbados, Russia, and the Congo learn and grow side by side and provide first-hand knowledge of world geography and culture. Our students learn about each other and the world they share, learning to respect differences while creating global bonds of friendship. Our KES education's four pillars – academics, athletics, fine arts, and leadership development – provide a balanced framework for the Junior School program. The focus is on developing a strong academic foundation that ensures our young students are well prepared for our Senior School International Baccalaureate program's rigors while providing opportunities for leadership, co-operation, and responsibility. The development of good presentation skills, critical thinking abilities, and self-directed learning are necessary elements for 21st-century success. Our annual Junior School science fair is an excellent example of how these criteria are incorporated into our curriculum design. Our Duke of Edinburgh's Young Canadian Challenge program celebrates student leadership, providing opportunities for personal growth while teaching students the satisfaction of helping others through community service. This outdoor adventure program is part of our Grade Nine curriculum. On our lively, integrated campus, the Junior School is very much a part of the larger King's-Edgehill community. Junior School students enjoy technology-enhanced classrooms, a one-to-one iPad program, a science laboratory, a spacious art room, music rooms, library, computer centers, student lounge, Chapel, dining hall, gymnasium, and fitness center, playing fields, and wooded trail. In addition to their academic and fine arts curriculum, students participate in all aspects of the King's-Edgehill program, including athletics and Cadets. Whether playing on a varsity team, snowboarding down Martock ski slopes, or swimming in our pool, there is something for everyone. Also, a variety of Junior School clubs, including photography, robotics, debating, international language club, to name a few, are offered at the end of each day. View full school
