- Darnley Primary School is a non-denominational, co-educational school, covering stages P1 to P7. There are equal opportunities for all children in the school, irrespective of sex, race, or religion, to fully participate in all aspects of the life of the school. We know that parents often find it difficult to understand what goes on in a primary school nowadays. The world has changed in so many ways and so has a primary school. We, in Darnley Primary, are very conscious of our responsibility to the children in our care, being very aware that we, in co-operation with parents, have the task of laying foundations upon which their future will be built. Our aims are concerned not only with the intellectual growth of each child but also with the social, emotional, and moral development. Our Aims of Darnley Primary School: To provide a well organized, stimulating, and caring atmosphere for our children To provide a happy supportive environment in which the children can reach their full potential which will, in turn, raise levels of attainment. To work in partnership with parents, carers, and other agencies to foster positive attitudes to learning. To provide meaningful opportunities for staff to continue to develop their professional skills to support the school's continuous development improvement program. A school curriculum describes what children and young people do in school. The experiences and outcomes set out expectations for learning and development in expressive arts, languages, and literacy, health and wellbeing, mathematics and numeracy, religious and moral education, sciences, social studies, and technologies. Curriculum for Excellence aims to ensure that everyone develops the attributes, knowledge, and skills they will need for life, learning and work.
