  1. The Dalkey School Project National School or DSPNS was founded by a group of parents, who wished to have their children educated in a multi-denominational school. When it opened in September 1978 in Dun Laoghaire it was the first such school in the country. Since 1985 the school is located in Glenageary Lodge, Glenageary, Co. Dublin and has now grown to well over 200 pupils and 13 teachers. There are now 56 multi-denominational schools in the country, under the umbrella body of Educate Together. Dalkey School Project National School strives to create a happy, friendly, inclusive, educational environment where each child is unique and valued. We are a welcoming school where diverse talents are appreciated and the school community works together respectfully. We cooperate to have a peaceful and safe atmosphere in which to learn and teach. We nurture each person’s potential and aspire to excellence. Our Ethos Committee aims to support and strengthen the lived ethos through engagement with the school community. We encourage all parents/guardians to be actively involved in promoting our inclusive, equality-based ethos. The Board of Management of Dalkey School Project NS is constituted as all other Boards of Management for National Schools. The powers and responsibilities are those set down for all schools, by the Department of Education and Science. The Board of Management is comprised of the school principal and a representative of the teaching staff. Apart from that, all members of the Board are parents of children currently enrolled in the school. Members represent the Patron, parents and guardians, and the wider community. Each member of the Board has responsibility for some aspect of both the day-to-day running of the school, as well as longer-term policies. This is done in close co-operation with the teaching staff, and particularly the principal, the idea being to bring complementary skills, as well as time, to the School. Members of the Board also liaise with other committees involved with the School, such as the PTA, the Dalkey School Project Executive or patron body, and Educate Together, which is the umbrella organization for Multi-Denominational Schools.
