      2. Jan Długosz University in Częstochowa is a community proud to have nearly a 50-year history. That history forms our traditions which sustain our ambitions to improve the academic center of Częstochowa – so it is associated with dynamic research, high-quality education, and the highest challenges for student enlightenment, open to culture, art, sport, and the world. Today’s modern campus does not only educate students and doctoral candidates but is, above all, a center that encourages economic and social development for the whole region. Being the region’s envoy, the University inspires action and serves the residents of the city, voivodeship, Poland, and Europe. We endeavor to improve the quality of our University every day. New directions of study, specialties, titles, and academic degrees are opened. Our staff engages in new areas of research, participate in scientific, scholarship, and art exchange, and boast accomplishments tied to initiative and inventiveness... For you and myself, I intend that our University evolves positively, aware of its status and significance for where it functions for it to be a valued and solid partner for other centers of knowledge, and other institutions in Poland and abroad. Jan Długosz University in Częstochowa is a public university, with its history that traces back to 1971. At present, the University comprises 4 faculties with more than 40 fields of study, with bachelor's, masters, and doctoral degrees. It offers postgraduate studies and courses and opens new fields of study accommodating the needs raised by employers. The University community is created by 648 academic staff who provide education to students from different corners of the country and the world. The history of our Alma Mater reaches back to the year 1971. Following the decision of the Council of Ministers of the time, a Teacher Training College was established. In 1974 it was transformed into a Higher Teacher Education School. The employees of the University who remember that historical event for Częstochowa and the region stress that establishing a graduate school of humanities was of great importance for the fast-developing city. Many people acknowledge that it was an unprecedented decision because those days the authorities showed much more favorable attitudes towards technical universities. Graduates in engineering science were in demand by dynamically developing industrial plants of the region. First diplomas for the completion of vocational education and training studies were awarded in 1973. The first Master of Arts and Master of Science diplomas were granted by the School authorities in 1977. JDU is involved in the popularisation of education in its various forms among elderly people. About 650 students - retired members of our community attend different courses of study offered by the University of the Third Age. Cooperation with foreign academic centers is an important element of the recognition and classification of any school. Our Alma Mater has a long and extensive tradition in this field. So far, we have concluded multiple agreements concerning cooperation with different centers of science and research worldwide. The cooperation has resulted in exchange programs for students and academic staff. We implement bilateral agreements and jointly finance research projects whose results can be applied in practice by both civil engineering and military industries. The Main Library is a real treasure of the University. Its collection comprises almost 300 thousand items, i.e. books, science journals, documents, and a collection of special titles. The librarians are very active in propagating reading they organize numerous exhibitions devoted to issues important for the region, history, and art. View full university
      3. Czestochowa University of Technology (CUT) is the largest state university in the region funded in the 40's last century. It is also the only one having full academic rights, i.e. it has the right to confer the title of doctor and university professor (habilitated doctor). During its scientific and educational activities, it has become an inherent part of Poland’s history and tradition, of the Czestochowa region and the city itself. In nationwide rankings of the state institutions of higher education, we are among the top universities in Poland with a similar profile. CUT has a reputation for being a modern and well-equipped school that offers a wide range of courses and a high level of education. The excellent quality of our teaching and research and the unrivaled academic knowledge and experience of our academic staff make studying at CUT a stimulating and invaluable experience. The University also prides itself on having good student infrastructure, a wide range of high-standard laboratories and lecture rooms to support research and teaching as well as three halls of residence, its publisher, and a modern main library and faculty libraries. At present, CUT offers courses to 14,000 students within the framework of six Faculties: The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science. The Faculty of Production Engineering and Materials Technology. The Faculty of Electrical Engineering. The Faculty of Civil Engineering. The Faculty of Infrastructure and Environment. The Faculty of Management. Our students have an opportunity to specialize in any of almost 90 areas within the framework of 19 fields of study. All faculties have full academic rights to confer the doctor’s degree in 9 scientific fields. Four faculties (the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science, the Faculty of Production Engineering and Materials Technology, the Faculty of Management, the Faculty of Infrastructure and Environment) have the right to confer post-doctoral degrees in 6 scientific fields. These Faculties also offer full-time Ph.D. studies. CUT, thanks to the high skills of its independent academic staff and a constantly growing number of employees obtaining doctoral and post-doctoral degrees, can develop more effectively and respond to new challenges brought by technological and scientific advances. Education of specialists in advanced technologies is a very important task undertaken by the University, which is vital for its development in the European structures. The University is involved in several research projects within the framework of programs, research, and education initiatives. It takes an active part in the seventh Framework Programme (e.g. in the PEOPLE MARIE CURIE campaign and ENERGY sub-program), and in numerous COSTS and the NORWEGIAN FINANCIAL MECHANISM projects. Almost all degree courses are accredited by the European Federation of National Engineering Associations in Brussels (FEANI). This indicates that our University graduates can apply for the title of European Engineer (EUR ING) to be conferred on them, which strengthens their position on the global job market. CUT also offers three-year taught full-time BSc studies in English. The main objective of studies in English is to educate future engineers who, while gaining in-depth professional knowledge of their fields of study, will also develop excellent linguistic competence in ESP and Business English.
