- Corbets Tey School is a forward-looking school for pupils with Complex Learning Needs. The school is a state-maintained, foundation special school situated in Upminster, Essex in the southeast of the London Borough of Havering. Approximately 110 children and young people attend the school-aged 4 to 16, all of whom have statements or Education Healthcare Plans detailing particular personal educational needs including communication and interaction difficulties, Autism, and several medical syndromes. Governors and staff at the school are firmly committed to the care of the children who attend the school. We aim to enable all pupils to achieve their maximum academic, physical and moral achievement so that they may ultimately make their valued contribution to society and to prepare them for adult life. The school aims to become a Centre of Excellence in support of its pupils and the local school community. Our Vision is to strive to have a learning culture where we aspire for success for every member, where thinking, problem-solving, and risk-taking are encouraged. A journey to success where barriers are only hurdles to be overcome and challenges stimulate our learning. We are committed to giving our best in all we do to ensure our children are prepared for the future, both through engaging, meaningful education and by developing confidence, self-belief, and resilience. We will create a community where values are shared and respect is integral a community where each individual is understood, nurtured, kept safe, and celebrated. We value working with parents and are committed to effective partnerships. We will reflect and research to ensure we constantly move forward in giving our children equal opportunities and the highest quality education that they deserve. We aim to ensure that our pupils are 100% engaged in their learning and this aspiration leads our curriculum development. We are continually learning what motivates and engages our pupils and this is illustrated through increased multi-sensory and active learning in lessons.
