Welcome to Coogee Boys' Preparatory School (Coogee Prep). We are a small, boys-only school, proud of our history as the oldest preparatory school in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs. The combination of our size and emphasis on traditional values provides an excellent environment for boys' education. We provide nurturing and supportive learning surroundings where boys develop into gentlemen, scholars, and athletes, well equipped to successfully transition into senior school. Coogee Prep understands the benefits of a boys-only education and embraces the positive influences this can have on a boy's self-image and confidence. There is a deliberate concentration of male teachers to provide positive role models for the boys to support this. All teachers create 'boy-friendly' classrooms, which aim to meet their students' individual needs and differences. The boys and parent community at Coogee Prepare our greatest asset and ambassadors. It is always a pleasure to watch a Coogee Prep boy behaving courteously and wearing his uniform with pride. So too, is it rewarding to hear parents recommending Coogee Prep to prospective parents into the broader community. 2010 marked a new era in the life of Coogee Prep with the completion of the new building and supporting educational facilities. I am excited about the future and look forward to welcoming all new students and families to the Coogee Prep community. Our Old Boys often remind me of the beautiful friendships made during their years at Coogee Prep, and I hope your sons have the opportunity to experience this as well. The School motto, 'Gentleman, Scholar, Sportsman,' is the foundation upon which the school aims to achieve its vision of preparing boys to become independent, resourceful, caring individuals and contributing members of society. As a small boys-only school, we foster a sense of community where all boys know and interact with each other across all grades, from Kindergarten to Year Six. This approach engenders a culture of inclusivity, enhanced self-esteem, and diversity. The School endeavors to teach boys respect and responsibility for themselves, others, the school environment, and the wider community. The school insists upon gentlemanly behavior, good manners, politeness, and courtesy from all its students. School classrooms are learning environments centered on individual needs, independent learning, and whole-class outcomes necessary for ongoing personal growth and development. The school encourages all boys to participate in the School sports program, House activities, and cultural pursuits, which promote teamwork, a sense of fair play, camaraderie, and School Spirit. The school strives to ensure each student's experience at Coogee Prep is a positive one. The safe, nurturing, and supportive environment encourages all students to develop their potential, where academic, social, and personal resilience is highly desired. Boys are encouraged to take measured risks and meet all challenges presented to ultimately prepare themselves for the rigors and challenges of further education and beyond.
