Welcome to the Cobourg Primary School. Cobourg Primary School is perched on the edge of Burgess Park Lake with amazing views over the city. However, its location is far from being the school’s finest asset because, as any visitor will testify, it is our community that makes our school unique. Supported by our parents and carers, governors, and the wider learning community we are committed to ensuring that all our children receive the highest standards of education and care in a safe and stimulating environment. As a community, we have a love of learning and we believe every child can be an assertive, independent high achiever. We also believe children should be able to have fun with each other and take informed risks to develop a full range of skills for later life. Cobourg Primary School is a multi-cultural school that aims to educate children about a variety of cultures and religions through a respectful, thoughtful, and informed curriculum. We follow the Southwark Agreed Syllabus Unit Coverage. This Southwark Agreed Syllabus enables our pupils to learn about and understand their own beliefs and those of others in a safe, non-threatening environment. Pupils learn to recognize that beliefs are expressed in a variety of ways and begin to use specialist vocabulary. They also begin to understand the importance and value of religion for believers, especially other children as they ask relevant questions and develop a sense of wonder about the world. This syllabus covers Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Sikhism, Buddhism, and Islam. At Cobourg Primary School we use Jigsaw as our scheme of work to support teaching Personal, Health, and Social Education. Jigsaw consists of 6 puzzles containing 6 Pieces (lessons). Jigsaw aims to help children know and value who they are and how they relate to other people in this ever-changing world.
