Ysgol Llanfair DC is a bilingual, rural, Church in Wales school. It is situated around two miles outside the town of Ruthin and serves families from the communities of Llanfair DC, Pwllglas, and the surrounding areas. The children can choose to have their education in Welsh or English to ensure that every child becomes fluently bilingual. We provide a happy, caring, and safe learning environment and support each child to learn and develop to their utmost ability during their period in primary school. We value and respect our pupils and encourage them to develop skills to become confident individuals, aware of the wellbeing of others, and happy and responsible members of society. During these past years, a lot of evidence has been collected to support the opinion that diet has a direct effect on health. Therefore we try to promote the importance of healthy eating. Children are not allowed to bring sweets, crisps, biscuits, cakes, or chocolate to eat during playtime. Alternatively, fruit can be bought from the school at 20p a day (£1 a week), or fruit can be brought from home. If your child decides to bring a packed lunch, we strongly advise that you include healthy food, sandwiches, pasta, cheese, yogurt, raw vegetables and fruit, and so on. Try and avoid foods that are full of fat and sugar. There is a water cooler in the school and we ask each child to bring a bottle to school every day. The purpose of the Pupil Deprivation Grant is to improve the educational attainment of pupils from low-income families and who are entitled to free school meals (FSM). Schools are expected to maximize the use of this funding by introducing sustainable strategies which will quickly lead to improved outcomes for pupils entitled to free school meals. View full school

Ysgol Glan Clwyd is a school for 11-to 18-year-old young people with a tradition of providing quality bilingual experiences and education for the young people of our community. This was the first Welsh-medium secondary school in Wales and we are proud of developing Denbighshire’s 11-18-year-old children and young people in becoming bilingual citizens. Pupils come to us from beautiful coastal areas in the North of the county and idyllic countryside areas. Each one with a wealth of Welsh accents enriches our experience of the language and celebrates our Welsh variety all under one roof! We are delighted this year to start the academic year in our new building, which will offer our pupils excellent and modern facilities for their education. Our main priority is to ensure the highest quality teaching and learning as what happens in the classrooms is the most important thing within a school. We also offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities, whether it’s charity work, whole school performances, sports, musical experiences including Eisteddfodau as well as STEM events – and much more! Seeing pupils succeed in these diverse fields gives us great satisfaction. For our pupils to be able to make the most of the experiences offered it is vital that they are happy at school. This is at the heart of our day-to-day work and we are proud of the reputation we have as a school that offers excellent care for our pupils, by ensuring that personal attention.
