The Chase Collegiate School Community comprises teachers, students, parents, alumni, grandparents, former faculty, friends, and community leaders, to name a few. Community is integral to the Chase experience. And the Chase community is something that happens organically, not through institutional dictates. At Chase, we are proud to live our mission daily. Chase Collegiate prides itself on creating and maintaining an environment of respect and kindness for all. Our community includes students and faculty representing various backgrounds, beliefs, and perspectives, all of which not only strengthen the School but serve as an invaluable component of a complete education. Chase's Honor Code reflects those values and reminds students to maintain the appropriate code of conduct and uphold each member of the Chase community's moral expectations. Chase students are encouraged to explore and appreciate all aspects of diversity in a safe and positive environment. Diversity at Chase encompasses but is not limited to age, socioeconomic background, ethnicity, gender, race, religion, physical ability, and sexual orientation. We aim to promote self-discovery and individuality and understand, respect, and support each person's ideas and opinions. Our goal is to create an intellectually challenging community of teachers and learners that: recognizes and values a spectrum of viewpoints and life experiences reflect the complex world in which we live, dispels stereotypes and confronts prejudice, rejects cruelty in any form, and inspires us to lead in a global society. Community is integral to the Chase experience. Through understanding an ethical view of life and a clear set of community standards, our kids know and practice compassion. Students build confidence when teachers promote discussion and provide ample opportunity for all voices to be heard. Students are encouraged and supported to take risks. Through success and failure, they gain the courage to push past what is comfortable and grow. We have integrated innovation and design thinking into our traditional curriculum – and created three high and low-tech design labs on campus, providing students the knowledge and space to chart their course in terms of their approach to a project and the outcome they produce. Regardless of what the future will look like when Chase students graduate from college, we know the marketplace will reward creative problem solvers. Chase's educational program and innovation challenges create the right conditions for generating solutions. View full school

  3. Chase Lane Primary School and Nursery Unit is a large, happy, thriving school. There are approximately 100 members of staff, which comprises of teachers and support staff. Governors and staff work closely together for the benefit of the children and at the center of our thoughts and actions we all have the welfare and happiness of the children and the standards of the children’s achievements across all areas of the curriculum. The children are all individuals and as such, the staff know each child well and support him/her so they can strive to fulfill their potential in all they undertake. A range of extra-curricular activities is organized for the children to develop their skills in the widest sense. In our school, we know the children’s first and very important teacher is the parent and when the children commence our Nursery or main school, both parent(s) and staff in particular take on the very important role of educators. A true partnership between home and school is very important. Parents are welcome in school and their views are truly valued. There is at our school an atmosphere of celebration. At every opportunity, staff celebrate, praise, and reward the children for the many excellent things they do, say, and of course, achieve. The following few lines I feel sum up our school:- Children are different, Children look different, Children behave differently At Chase Lane Primary School and Nursery Unit, we are committed to the concept of high-quality teaching and learning. We, therefore, believe the children should strive to develop to their full potential. Achievement in all areas of the curriculum is celebrated. To ensure that we can meet these expectations, we believe our teaching approaches should comprise a healthy mix of class, individual, and group teaching, but at the very heart of whichever approach adopted at a given time is experiential learning. Children, governors, learning support assistants, nursery nurses, office staff, parents and teachers, are all learners together. A real and meaningful partnership between these groups enhances quality education. Everyone in school is special and enriches the life of the school. All members of the school community are to show respect to each other by always listening to one another and of course all staff take pride in themselves and their work. In striving to continually improve the quality of learning and teaching it is necessary for the school and all its members to be open to critical scrutiny by people within and beyond. Indeed developing a quality curriculum will require staff to share their practice and be willing to submit it to constructive analysis from colleagues and others.

  5. Wimbledon Chase has been listed 3 times by Ofsted as a particularly successful school. We were one of only 26 schools in the country at the time to have achieved this honor. We were also the first school in the Borough of Merton to become a Beacon School in 1996 and maintained this standard for 5 years. We believe at Wimbledon Chase Primary School that learning occurs best when the children are motivated and interested. Within Nursery and Reception, the adult plays a crucial role in planning and resourcing play activities and also knowing when to intervene to extend children’s spontaneous play. The Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum is organized into 7 areas of learning. Activities are planned to be challenging but achievable. Merton commits to provide all children with free part-time education in the term after their 4th birthday. All LEA nursery classes and many registered private and voluntary providers provide 3 hours per day, five times a week. All children entering the Nursery are offered a Home Visit from the Nursery Teacher and/or Nursery Nurses. Children are admitted to the Nursery Unit during the term after their third birthday. Children either join in the Autumn, Spring, or Summer term. Children are admitted to Reception classes during the academic year in which they become five. The academic year runs from 1st September to 31st August the following year. All Reception children start during September, attending school for half-day sessions. By the end of September, all children will stay at school for the full day. Application forms are available in October and should be submitted by mid-December. If the school is over-subscribed, the Borough’s Admission Policy comes into operation, using set criteria to allocate places. Please refer to the London Borough of Merton website for more information. We are fortunate to have beautiful grounds and excellent facilities, including extensive sports fields, two up-to-date ICT suites, a spacious library, a cookery room, a music room, a nursery for 104 children, and a well-equipped gymnasium. We have a separate Dining Hall and Hall, with a purpose-built stage, which we use for our regular musical concerts and school productions. We are a very popular school and due to increasing demand, we have been gradually expanding to 3 Forms of Entry over the last 6 years. This process was completed in September 2014 and we now have 630 pupils plus the nursery. To house the extra children, a new wing was built onto the school. This two-story building opened in September 2011 and provides classrooms for Reception and Year 2, plus a new Music Room, second ICT suite, a cookery room, and a Wrap Around Centre for Nursery and After School Club. A lift has been installed and the playground re-landscaped. We are grateful for these exciting developments to the school. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive school, not only for the children in our Additionally Resourced Provision but also for any children with special needs or learning difficulties. Our ARP currently has 16 pupils with speech, language, and communication needs. Pupils at Wimbledon Chase achieve KS2 SATs results above national and local averages each year. Our teachers are talented and committed. We have received many awards in recent years including the Basic Skills Quality Mark, the Sports Active Mark Gold, Effective Early Learning, Enhanced Healthy School Status, Sustained Travel Plan Status, and the Arts Mark Gold. We have also been awarded Intermediate Level for the International Schools Award. We provide a very wide variety of over 50 extra-curricular clubs and activities before school, during lunchtime, and after school. Examples of clubs include tennis, ballet, football, tag rugby, cricket, hockey, Aikido, street dance, computers, choir, orchestra, brass, drums, recorders, gardening, and film club. Wimbledon Chase has excellent links with parents and we believe that children work best if there is a good partnership with parents. This was recognized by Ofsted as a strength of the school. It is part of our vision to ensure that we work together to enable children to achieve their full potential in a happy and secure environment. We recognize that the unique trademark of Wimbledon Chase can be summed up in 3 words: Opportunity, Inspiration, and Celebration. The children are inspired to explore their talents and abilities they are given many opportunities to develop these talents and as a school, we celebrate and enjoy our achievements whenever we can.
  6. At Chase Side Primary School we believe that learning should be enjoyable, engaging, and meaningful. We believe that a broad and enriching curriculum is an entitlement for all children, irrespective of their race, gender, religion, or social background and that it must support every child to achieve their full potential. As a strong, supportive community, we all work in close partnership to ensure our children’s education provides the skills and knowledge they need to thrive globally, nationally, and locally, growing into responsible and successful citizens. Our passion includes achieving the very best for every individual within an inspiring, creative and safe environment. Across the whole school, children’s learning is promoted and organized through their exposure to and involvement with a broad and stimulating curriculum focusing on themes – areas of learning where the children can negotiate the direction they want to take whilst also ensuring all the key academic and life skills are developed. It is very important to us that our children understand there is a real reason for learning and have opportunities to apply it to real-life situations and experiences. This is where thematic learning becomes so exciting, purposeful, and powerful and is brought alive through our Enabling Enterprise links where children get to experience academic and life skills which equip them for the next stage of their development. These include problem-solving, teamwork, perseverance, and aiming high. At Chase Side, we want to ensure all children are given every opportunity to thrive throughout their time with us. We see everyone as a learner for life and we hope none of us will ever lose the enthusiasm and excitement that learning provides. This is encompassed in our vision for the school and its community. At Chase Side Primary School, we are committed to providing a broad, balanced, and challenging curriculum, which embraces the full range of a child’s development social, physical, creative, cultural, and emotional. We are committed to preparing children for the next stage of their life experience and we believe that it’s a shared responsibility between the child, parents, carers, and staff. We welcome and encourage parental and community links in all aspects of the curriculum. In all areas of the school curriculum, we aim to develop and respond to children’s curiosity, broaden their horizons, providing them with the skills and knowledge appropriate to their development stage, so they can move towards becoming independent learners. At Chase Side, purposeful learning experiences are carefully planned within, as well as beyond, the framework of the foundation curriculum and the National Curriculum. Learning experiences and the curriculum is continually developed to meet the needs of our children. We mold our curriculum using a range of DFE tools, Chris Quigley’s Essentials Curriculum and Enabling Enterprise.
  7. At Chase Bridge, we set high standards for work and behavior. Our most fundamental principle is that we believe intelligence and ability are not fixed and if our children develop skills such as resilience, resourcefulness, reflectiveness, and reciprocity (learning to share and work as a team), they can meet their full potential. We expect all members of the school community - children, staff, parents, and governors - to work together to maintain these standards and for children to work purposefully towards achieving their best at all times. Our school motto is Excel at Learning Express Your Talents Care for Others. Children are eligible to join the Nursery at the beginning of the autumn term (September) following their third birthday. If a space becomes available during the year we will offer it to the waiting list but parents should be aware that we have no guaranteed intake other than in September. Chase Bridge Primary School is maintained by the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames and follows its policy on admissions. The school is open to any child in the age range of 4+ to 11. As the school is often oversubscribed, it is not possible to guarantee a place to all applicants. If you are unsuccessful in gaining a place for your child, we will be pleased to tell you about the Borough appeals procedure. Parents with young children should refer to Richmond’s official guidance notes on starting school. Once you have been offered a place for your child to start at Chase Bridge, you will be invited to visit for a New Parents' evening and will also be offered a home visit in September before your child starts school. If at any time you have any questions, however small they may seem to you, please do call the school office. Children admitted to the Reception year are given opportunities to visit before they start school. During these times they can familiarise themselves with their surroundings and get to know their teachers. The school endeavors to ensure that children with disabilities can be admitted and play as full a part in school life as possible. The school governors have approved a disability access plan and policy. There are ramps at all entrances, three disabled toilets, and a sound-field system in the hall. At Chase Bridge, we recognize that it is everyone’s moral and statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children. We endeavor to provide a safe and welcoming environment where children are respected and valued. The best interests of the child are considered at all times. We are committed to identifying concerns early and can implement early help where necessary. We are alert to the signs of abuse and neglect and follow our procedures to ensure that children receive effective support, protection, and justice. We know where a child is in immediate danger or at risk of significant harm action should be taken immediately to protect that child. Chase Bridge always maintains an attitude of it could happen here. Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children refers to protecting children from maltreatment preventing impairment of children’s health or development ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care and taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes. At Chase Bridge, we run an extensive club provision for all the children in the school. These clubs are organized on a termly basis and are run by a combination of teachers, TAs, parents and sports coaches, and other outside providers. Clubs take place after school, at lunchtime, and occasionally before school. The internet is an extraordinary force for good but is not designed with children in mind. However one-third of users are under 18 and the part it plays in children's lives continues to grow: among 3-4-year-olds, in the last year, time online increased from 6 hours 48 minutes to 8 hours 18 minutes a week, and 12-15-year-olds now spend over 20 hours a week online. (Figures taken from the Children's Commissioner - Growing Up Digital January 2017 report). Through regular newsletters and events, this parent-run group aims to help explain the risks and promote the benefits of using the internet. Run by Chase Bridge parents and carers for Chase Bridge parents and carers, it is a valuable forum for you to share ideas, ask questions and find out the latest advice about new developments. Our assessment procedures are an essential part of how we help children achieve high standards. We regularly evaluate children’s knowledge, skills, and understanding through daily formative assessments and termly summative assessments. These assessments help establish children’s abilities and current strengths, as well as their next learning steps. Teachers use assessment information to inform their planning, ensuring lessons continually build on children’s strengths and address areas for development improving the quality of teaching and learning. Children are actively involved in our assessments, as they become better learners when they are given time to reflect on their success in lessons and are aware of their own learning goals. The qualitative and quantitative assessment information is shared regularly with parents throughout the year so that teachers and parents can work together to help children succeed.

View full school

  11. View full school
