The University envisages itself as "The premier University in historic Cavite recognized for excellence in the development of globally competitive and morally upright individuals," In consonance with this Vision, it is the Mission of the University "to provide excellent, equitable, and relevant educational opportunities in the arts, sciences, and technology through quality instruction and responsive research and development activities." Cavite State University shall provide excellent, equitable, and relevant educational opportunities in the arts, sciences, and technology through quality instruction and responsive research and development activities. It shall produce professional, skilled, and morally upright individuals for global competitiveness. The Cavite State University (CSU) has its humble beginnings in 1906 as the Indang Intermediate School with the American Thomasites as the first teachers. Several transformations in the name of the school took place in Indang Farm School in 1918, Indang Rural High School in 1927, and Don Severino National Agriculture School in 1958. In 1964, the school was converted into a State College by Republic Act 3917 and became known as Don Severino Agricultural College (DSAC). On January 22, 1998, by Republic Act No.8468, DSAC was converted into Cavite State University. In 2001, Cavite College of Fisheries (CACOF) in Naic, Cavite, and Cavite College of Arts and Trade (CCAT) in Rosario, Cavite, was integrated into the University under CHED Memo No. 27 s. 2000. Since then, additional campuses in the province were established through memoranda of agreement with the LGUs. At present, CSU has 11 campuses in the province. The main campus, approximately 70 hectares in land area and named Don Severino de las Alas Campus, is in Indang, Cavite. CSU is mandated "to provide excellent, equitable and relevant educational opportunities in the arts, sciences, and technology through quality instruction, and responsive research and development activities. It shall produce professional, skilled, and morally upright individuals for global competitiveness." The University is offering close to 100 curricular programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. It has more than 25,000 students and 1,200 faculty and staff from all campuses. The University is also authorized to certify and confer appropriate academic degrees under the Expanded Tertiary Education and Accreditation Program (ETAP). It has been accredited by TESDA as Trade and Testing Venue and designated by the Department of Agriculture as the National Center for Research and Development for Coffee and Urban Agriculture. It also hosts the Southern Tagalog Agriculture Research and Development Consortium (STARDEC), the Affiliated Renewable Energy Center for Region IV-A, and the Regional ICT Center for Region IV-A.CSU adheres to its commitment to Truth, Excellence, and Service, as it aims to be the "premier University in historic Cavite, recognized for excellence in the development of globally competitive and morally upright individuals." The two-story University Library started its operation in June 1980, with a collection of 2,946 volumes (consisting of 1,196 titles) turned over from the old high school library. After the books were cataloged, the library finally opened its door to the users in November 1980. Since its opening, its collection has increased to 106,459 volumes (92,199 titles). It has acquired a total of 5,055 series titles (journals, newsletters, annual reports, newspapers, bulletins, popular magazines, etc.) The present University library has been named Ladislao N. Diwa Memorial Library and Museum (LDMLM) since its launching on July 14, 1997, in recognition of the various contributions of Ladislao N. Diwa and his heirs to the library. The International Students of United Nations hoped to unite with the University to model all international students in the University to lift higher the University's Vision in developing globally competitive and morally upright individuals. International Students of the United Nations shall comply with all academic rules and regulations of the University to achieve the Vision and mission set forth by University. It shall uphold and utilize all relevant and educational opportunities in the University's colleges to promote and protect the University's high reputation from 1906 to date. It shall produce law-abiding and peaceful candidates who will serve as crusaders to attract other foreigners into the University. Sequel to, and in support of the Vision, mission, and by-laws, our aims and objectives are to have a unified body of international students who will support and encourage each other to maintain the focus that led us into the Philippines and much more into Cavite State University. And also, taking our studies more severe to graduate with honors was possible to make our parents, sponsors, supporters, our countries, instructors, professors, and the University proud. The dream of setting up an organization on behalf of international students in Cavite State University was hatched on a good day that Mahel ThankGod A. perused through the student handbook and found out on page 5, 6, where the handbook states that when international students are more than 5, an adviser should be designated to look after their welfare. Based on these academic rules and regulations, the said name and person above met with the dean of student affairs with the sole aim to inquire if international students in the University had any adviser. However, at the end of the meeting with the dean, records showed none, and at that juncture, the dean promised that an organization would put in place and appoint someone to man it. Hence, we wish to thank the dean and Cavite State University immensely for fulfilling their promise, giving birth to International Students of the United Nations (UN). The said organization was formally inaugurated on August 15, 2012, and Mahel ThankGod Amukele, a second-year student of the College of Arts and Sciences taking up Bachelor of Arts in English, was recommended to be the President of the organization. The recommendation was ratified on August 28, 2012, general meeting and the election of officers of ISUN. As part of the "Spirit of Reform" spreading throughout Christendom, the order of Augustinian Recollects emerged during the last quarter of the sixteenth century (1588) as a movement aiming for a stricter observance of the Rule of St.Augustine. The Graduate School, guided by the institutional vision and mission, commits itself to develop professionals with intellectual expertise, competent and effective leadership, a spirit of meaningful community involvement, and scholarly attitude. Two graduate program options are offered in the SSC-RdC Graduate School of Business: the Master in Business Administration (MBA) Thesis and Non-Thesis programs. Both curriculums are designed for individuals who desire to enhance their entrepreneurial pursuits or in preparation for promotion to higher executive levels in their companies. The MBA Program (Thesis/Non-Thesis) is offered on a trimestral basis and may be completed in two academic years. Since the Junior High School of the San Sebastian College -Recoletos de Cavite is PAASCU accredited, the Department of Education has granted the institution permission to offer Senior High School Program starting SY 2016-2017. Appreciative of the goal of graduating young people who are college and employment-ready, SSC-RdC will provide learners with 21stcentury skills that they will need for lifelong learning. In 2016, the main campus, with necessary laboratories, facilities, and equipment, will house SHS students who may pursue either the Academic or Tech-Voc Track. The graduate of San Sebastian College-Recoletos de Cavite must be a love-inspired Christian, ever searching for perfection in his endeavors in the service he offers to his God, country, and neighbors, and in the witness he gives to his convictions. San Sebastian College-Recoletos de Cavite provides scholarships designed to help financially handicapped but deserving students who would like to pursue their tertiary education and, at the same time, serve as apprentices in any of the school's offices, or laboratories, or facilities. Under the Student Assistance Program, the grantees formed themselves into the Organization of Sebastian Student Assistants (OSSA). In the SEAP (Secretariat of the Educational Apostolate of the Philippines) General Assembly held in September 2003, the nomenclature, READS (Recoletos Educational Assistance for Deserving Students) was used to identify the working students of Recoletos Schools throughout the Philippines, to unify all OAR Schools.READS is the one who extends auxiliary services to the school during his/her free time without any remuneration while he/she is currently enrolled in the college. In return for his/her auxiliary services, he/she is granted a full scholarship by the school to enroll in the college course. The Augustinian Recollects initially adopted the charism of the contemplative life. However, the great demand for missionaries necessitated by the Philippines' recently undertaken evangelization called upon them to accept missionary work. In the year 1606, the first group of Recollect missionaries reached the Philippine shores. Mindful of the mission they had to accomplish, they spread themselves nearly all over the Philippine archipelago and succeeded in establishing missions in regions not yet covered by other religious congregations. In 1616, the Recollect Fathers built a beautiful church and convent in Cavite. They remained here, spreading the light of the Gospel and promoting Christian civilization until World War II. Determined to continue the work they had begun in Cavite, the Recollect Fathers founded in 1966 the San Sebastian College-Recoletos. In addition to opening an exclusive high school for boys, the former junior college offered co-educational tertiary level education in Commerce, Liberal Arts, and a two-year Secretarial Science course. The only other school in the city that provided college education was Saint Joseph College, also run by a religious group, the Augustinian sisters. In the early years, the two administrations forged an agreement not to offer a course the other was specializing in. After about twenty years of peaceful co-existence, their monopoly was threatened by founding other smaller private institutions within the city and the nearby towns offering other baccalaureate degrees and vocational courses. Such change, at that time, somehow affected the enrollment in both institutions. In the late '80s, SSC-R de Cavite gained the upper hand in the competition when the administration decided to offer courses in computer science. Very few schools had the same courage because of the budget requirement for these courses. However, realizing the growing market for computer education and fear of the adverse effect of not responding to the changing needs of the market, several other schools decided to join the competition in technological education. The challenges resulting from the branching out of prominent universities in nearby towns in the province like Dasmariñas and Imus have eventually forced SSC-R de Cavite to be more aggressive in its plans if it desires to continue with its mission of providing Caviteños with quality Christian education.
