- Our school is very proud of the high levels of Pastoral Care given to our pupils, the wide range of extra-curricular activities we offer, and the academic successes of our young people. We wish to secure the best possible outcomes for our young people. We strive for equity with excellence in education and believe in always placing the 'Child at the Centre’ by ensuring they are safe, happy, respected, and achieving their full potential. We actively encourage our young people to be ambitious and have the high expectations of them in all aspects of school life: in their attitude to learning, in their conduct, and their appearance. We place no ceiling on their achievements. We want our young people to leave school with the confidence and capabilities, skills and attributes, and the necessary qualifications to be able to decide their future for themselves and to live a happy, healthy, and successful life. We expect every young person in Castlemilk High School to have the freedom - as an adult - to choose the path that is right for them. We believe that great things can only happen if we work together in partnership. As the African proverb states, “If you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together.” We have fostered active partnerships with our parents, local primary and secondary schools, local businesses, and the community of Castlemilk. A Curriculum for Excellence aims to renovate the education of Scotland’s pupils by providing a curriculum that is consistent for pupils ages between 3-18 years old. The curriculum is designed to challenge and engage all learners by adding breadth and depth to their learning experience. The new curriculum will facilitate the development of skills and attributes for learning every pupil develops the skills and qualities for learning, life, and employment, which are contained within the four capacities. The inclusion of the four capacities within the Curriculum at Castlemilk High School will foster development and learning. The Four Capacities will enable each individual to become: A successful learner A confident individual A responsible citizen An effective contributor. Castlemilk High hosts a Parental Engagement evening every year to allow parents to become involved in their child's education and learn more about the new curriculum. Annually our S1 pupils meet people who are employers or work in colleges & local businesses, to investigate how numeracy plays are part of the world of work. Here at Castlemilk High, we take great pride in our commitment to promoting the health and wellbeing of the wider community. Health and education go hand in hand and children who are healthy are more likely to achieve their full potential at school. The Scottish Government requires that all schools are Health Promoting, meaning we take on a whole-school approach to promoting the physical, mental, social, and emotional wellbeing of all pupils staff, and the wider school community.
