Brockton is a safe, caring environment where students are challenged academically through a broad and balanced curriculum that surpasses the expectations of the International Baccalaureate and British Columbia Education Ministry requirements. The academic program is complemented by our Exploration, Discovery, and World Music Ensemble. Our students are encouraged to participate in a wide range of sporting, artistic, and musical activities. These co-curricular programs embrace all aspects of school life and demonstrate our excellent links with our local and global communities. As an International Baccalaureate World School, we can embrace the concepts of 21st-century learning. We provide challenging programs in a culture of inquiry and foster the importance of giving service to others. At Brockton, we encourage all students to achieve their true potential by being active learners and global citizens. Students at Brockton do not merely come to school; they embark on an educational adventure where they are encouraged to take risks and inquire about the world around them. It is an honor to lead a truly dedicated and highly trained staff and serve the Brockton Community's families. Brockton School is an independent, co-educational, non-denominational, day school located in beautiful North Vancouver, BC. Brockton hosts an Early Learning Years program, a Junior School, and a Senior School, with students from Junior Kindergarten to grade 12. Brockton is an International Baccalaureate World Continuum School and is the only ISABC School in North Vancouver. All members of the Brockton School community strive to honor their daily behavior, the school's core values of truth, trust, honesty, and mutual respect. At Brockton, students have lockers, but no locks there is simply no need for students to secure their personal property against their fellow students. Brockton's school culture is unique and is articulated in the Student Handbook. This unique school culture and the connection that Brockton teachers have with their students lead to an atmosphere where children learn in a physically and psychologically safe environment where they want to learn. At Brockton, "It is O.K. to study." At Brockton, we ensure that each student has time with their teachers to explore new ideas and receive feedback, to get to know one another. An outcome of this relationship is a true partnership in learning and living. What students take away from Brockton is much more than "marks" they leave with life tools. We believe that lifelong learning should be enjoyable to be fruitful. Parent involvement is also key to Brockton's culture. It validates for the child the parents' choice of school. Although parent involvement need not include volunteering at the school (Brockton is not a "parent participation" school in that sense), there are many volunteer opportunities available for those interested. At Brockton, we communicate frequently and effectively with all of our constituents (parents, teachers, and students) on all matters, such as programs, student progress, governance, and parent activities.
