    Brock University

Brock University is one of Canada’s top post-secondary institutions. Located in the historic Niagara region, Brock offers all the benefits of a young and modern university in a safe, community-minded city with beautiful natural surroundings. With more than 18,000 students in seven diverse Faculties, Brock University offers an academic experience that’s second to none. Our degree programs are designed with your future in mind. We focus on your career with co-op and service-learning options that provide maximum exposure to your chosen field. Brock is more than a school — it is a community. There is a variety of clubs, intramural athletic options, and extracurricular activities to stimulate any interest. Beyond your participation, cheer on the Brock Badgers in a wide variety of sports. More than 24,000 experiential learning opportunities for students last year. And a co-op program with one of the highest work-term placement rates in Canada. More than 95 percent of co-op grads get hired by their previous employer. Brock research has a heart for community and a head for innovation. Our passion drives us to discover, disseminate, and apply new knowledge. Improving the quality of life through leading-edge research and scholarship is what we are all about. We are heavily invested in the economic, social, and cultural health of our community and beyond. Scores of partnerships between the community and all faculties within the University make research a two-way process: we learn from one another as we discover and innovate. We are very proud of the research that Faculties and departments generate at Brock and the contributions that our researchers make to society. Here, we overview our research themes and provide a few highlights of the innovative and creative work being done all across the University. Please visit our Faculty and department pages for more information and further examples of our research. We help grow Niagara’s economic and social life, mainly through our internationally-renowned grape and wine research and through our community think-tank. Our brain and behavior research gives us a deeper understanding of human development stages, especially with our children and adolescents. Our health and well-being research results range from international breakthroughs to fitness programs for seniors and people living with disabilities. Our scientists work with plants to create products and processes used in green chemistry and anti-cancer drugs. Research on our natural environment gives us clues to tackling climate change, water governance, and even life on Mars!

    Brock Academy

Established in 2008, Brock Academy is an Ontario-based hybrid (online/onsite) high school that envisions education with no boundaries. Our experienced Ontario-certified educators provide a comprehensive, individualized learning experience with leading-edge systems and have the authority to grant credits towards the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) for all subjects. We are registered and inspected by the Ontario Ministry of Education. Our new location in the Niagara Region offers affordable education for students in Grades 1-12 with a strong focus on STEM learning. Further, our small class sizes of less than ten students, robust academics, and focused attention on each learner allow students with learning challenges and IEP's to thrive in an environment suited to their needs. Our facilities house a 5,000 square foot gym with a wide range of specialized fitness and recreational programs for children over the age of six in the local community. We also offer additional activities such as volleyball, basketball, dance, and fitness for youth with learning challenges through our six-week modules, summer programs, and March Break programs. At Brock Academy, we understand the unique circumstances that shape each student's needs, focusing prominently on IEPs and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) to build a strong academic foundation and prepare every learner for their continuing education. Those who may struggle with traditional classroom environments, learning disabilities or impairments, or need alternative support and services can benefit from Brock Academy's individualized approach. Whatever the circumstances or schedule, Brock Academy works with each student to complete their OSSD and earn a world-class education. Prepare for a bright and prosperous future with us. At Brock Academy, we work with each family and student directly to develop an individual learning plan based on realistic academic goals. Students, parents, teachers, and counselors meet and discuss feasible goals that can be set for the student throughout the year and a strategy for achieving these goals. Based on the student's academic targets and accounting for any learning challenges, a realistic learning plan is then finalized and put into action. This highly tailored academic approach ensures our students thrive and find greater success in their school environment and beyond. Brock Academy is authorized by the Ministry of Education, Ontario, to grant credits towards Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), at all levels in all subjects. We encourage all parents to be as involved as possible in their students' academic and extracurricular progress and maintain continuous contact with teachers and administrative staff to help build a strong community for our students. Parents are a vital component of student academic success and personal growth. We aim to have an average classroom size of 10 students. This ensures that we maintain the small group dynamic out of respect for different learning styles, focus the teachers' attention on individual student needs, and foster success for everyone. Brock Academy is a hybrid high school, offering both online and traditional classroom content delivery. As a Ministry of Education inspected private school, we provide a wide range of high school credits in English, Maths, Sciences, Social Sciences, and the Humanities. Our flexible and individualized approach to student learning includes developing a realistic Individual Education Plan (IEP) and driving its successful implementation based on each student's learning challenges and private accommodations to achieve their goals. We have found that the greatest need for attention to students with learning challenges in grades 7 and 8. Brock Academy prepares students for high school by providing the same facilities like those for our high school students through Individual Education Plans, small class sizes, access to technology, and after-school support to help develop each student academically. Recognizing the increased employability in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) jobs, as well as the under-representation of girls in STEM areas, we endeavor to provide programming that is unique to the need for more STEM learning in education and that will help our students improve and succeed in these areas. At Brock Academy, our subject specialists teach STEM subjects starting in middle school to build a strong foundation for high school education and post-secondary studies. At Brock Academy, students are guided through all steps of their university/college application process, not merely for grades-only programs but also highly competitive grades plus programs. We have experience assisting students with successfully transitioning into universities across the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, and the Middle East. View full school
