Thanks to its predecessor institutions, the Geestemünde Navigation College and the Municipal College, the University of Applied Sciences Bremerhaven's education tradition can be traced back to more than a hundred years ago. Therefore, the University of Applied Sciences Bremerhaven distinguishes itself as the "university by the sea," not only because of its geographic location directly at Weser's estuary but mainly because of its 24 attractive study programs. At the backside of the building, K is the remnants of walls of the Castle Karlsburg built-in 1672, which was used as an emigration center later on. The remnants are now integrated into the walls of the new buildings. There is a tower room located inside, often referred to as the "Beste Stube," which means the best room. However, in other buildings around the historical Karlsburg, the students can always experience quick ways and vibrant campus life. Whether when you have coffee in the Student Cafe or a cozy meal in the cafeteria, which is also possible outside in the sun in summer, you can always meet your classmate's professors there and have friendly conversations with them during the breaks between. Besides, the University of Applied Sciences Bremerhaven also has modern equipped institutes and laboratories, and it offers worldwide unique study programs such as the Bachelor's program CruiseTourism Management.
