At Blairdardie, we aim to create a happy and stimulating environment for our pupils. We encourage all children to work co-operatively and to respect each other. This is evident from the warm and friendly atmosphere that we enjoy in school. Around our school, we have much to be proud of and a key element in our school community is celebrating our successes. Pupils are encouraged to play a full and active part in the life of the school. Working with our School Pupil Council is one way in which we do this. Our Eco Council also ensures that pupils participate in all aspects of school life. Pupils also wear our school sweatshirts and polo shirts with pride. This serves as a testimony to their feelings about school. Our vision for Blairdardie Primary School is that of a Sustainable, Environmentally Progressive Centre of Active Learning, with all children learning through a variety of stimulating learning experiences and experiencing increased independence in their learning. We want all children to feel valued, safe and happy and all to be achieving their full potential. At Blairdardie we value the qualities of honesty, hard work, helping others, and having a positive attitude. Our aim is for all children to be allowed to develop into positive, healthy young adults and to make the most of their educational opportunities. We as a whole staff work together to provide a caring, stimulating and positive environment where the quality of teaching and learning encourages children to reach their full potential as successful learners, responsible citizens, effective contributors, and confident individuals. Blairdardie Primary is a non-denominational, co-educational school that provides education for children from P1 - 7. We are part of the Knightswood Learning Community. Knightswood Learning Community consists of Knightswood Secondary School and its feeder Primary Schools and Pre-five establishments. The curriculum falls into eight main categories: Languages: Modern Languages and English & Literacy Mathematics Religious and Moral Education Sciences Social Studies Technologies Health Expressive Arts Curriculum for Excellence is now in use across Scotland for all 3-18-year-olds – wherever they learn. It aims to raise standards and prepare our children for the future by equipping them for the jobs of tomorrow in a fast-changing world. Curriculum for Excellence enables professionals to teach subjects creatively, to work together across the school and with other schools, to share best practices, and explore learning together. Glow, Scotland’s unique, world-leading, the online network supports learners and teachers in this and plans are already in place for parents across the country to have access to Glow. Teachers and practitioners now share information to plan a child’s ‘learning journey’ from 3-18, helping their progression from nursery to primary, primary to secondary, and beyond, ensuring the change is smooth.
