Ysgol Gymraeg Blaendulais is located in the village of Seven Sisters in the Dualis Valley. It serves the villages of Crynant, Seven Sisters, Pantyffordd, Onllwyn, Dyffryn Cellwen. The school, which was opened in 1961, is a one-form entry primary school with around 110 children on the roll, in single age group, mixed-ability classes. 5 classrooms are accommodating a Playgroup, our Nursery and Foundation Phase class, and mainstream classes. We have an assembly hall, a separate dining hall, an IT suite, and a library. Ysgol Gymraeg Blaendulais has a friendly, hard-working staff team. Our aim in Ysgol Gymraeg Blaendulais is to provide a firm learning foundation in an environment promoting success for every individual in the establishment. We offer a bilingual education alongside a variety of experiences that broaden horizons. We promote an environment of respect and self-worth when constructing the future together. At Ysgol Gymraeg Blaendulais we aim to encourage excellence, value individual contribution, develop confident, independent learners, place a high emphasis on literacy and numeracy, encourage aesthetic, spiritual, moral, and social development, develop self-discipline, teach the children to value and respect self and others, make learning fun! We hope that children, parents, staff, and governors will work together to create a happy, productive. The school is also well served by a school clerk and three mid-day supervisors. The school has received the Silver Starter Iaith Award and is currently working towards the Gold Award. We take an active part in the area's sports fixtures and our extracurricular activities include rugby, netball, swimming, choir, disco dancing, folk dancing, and the Urdd. The school also takes part in athletic competitions. As well as extracurricular activities we are keen to promote open-air and environmental activities. We have been awarded the Platinum Eco-Schools Award and Healthy School status and partake in a wide range of residential courses and visits, including Year 3 pupils being awarded the John Muir ‘Discovery’ award. We aim to create bilingual, responsible citizens. Parent helpers are welcomed into school and help with reading, art, design technology, computers, cooking, etc. We have an active Parent-Teachers' Association which meets regularly. Blaendulais Primary school is situated in the heart of the Dulais Valley. We are a small, rural school where children grow and develop within a happy, friendly, and caring environment. Our school has strong well-developed partnerships with parents and the local and wider communities. We work together to ensure fairness and equality for all.
