At E-ACT Blackley we believe that our role is to equip children with the life skills that they will need to be successful, both now and in the future. We offer a variety of experiences for our children, from working with our artist-in-residence to sports coaching with Manchester City. We run cookery clubs, craft clubs, coding clubs, and many more. Our academy is a caring community that values personal, social, moral, and emotional development as well as academic and creative achievement. Our aim is that all children will leave the academy at 11 with good SAT results, but most importantly, with a lifelong love of learning. Our vision is to provide high-quality art lessons that inspire and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their works of art. As pupils progress, they should be able to think critically and develop a rigorous understanding of art. We believe that children deserve the highest standard of education and we work hard to deliver such high standards every day in a safe and secure environment. Keeping our children safe is at the heart of everything we do and we take all aspects of safeguarding extremely seriously. All parents are required to apply to their home LA regardless of where the school/academy they are applying for is situated. Manchester residents will apply to Manchester LA. The LA will liaise with other Admissions Authorities in Manchester and other Las where required. Manchester LA will inform parents/carers in writing of the outcome of their application. Parents/carers of children who are admitted for nursery provision MUST apply through the Local Authority for a place at the academy if they want their child to transfer to the Reception class in Blackley Academy. A published Admission Number (PAN) is the number of places a school/academy has in the year of entry. Places will normally only be offered up to the published admission number. A child cannot be refused admission to the normal year of entry on the grounds of prejudice to the provision of efficient education and efficient use of resources unless the published admission number has been reached. Outside of the year of entry, it is expected that the PAN will continue to be applied. However, if circumstances at the academy have changed since the year of entry, a place may be refused even if the admission number has not been reached. Waiting lists will be held in criteria order according to the oversubscription criteria. Waiting lists will not be operated on a “first come first served” basis. The amount of time an applicant is on a waiting list will not affect their position on it. Each added child will require the list to be ranked again in line with the published oversubscription criteria. Priority will not be given to children based on the date their application was received or their name was added to the list. Looked after children, previously looked after children or those allocated a place at school with a Fair Access Protocol will take precedence over those on the waiting list. Waiting lists are maintained at the academy level and coordinated with the LA. All applications for In Year Admissions (Reception to Year 6) should be made directly to the LA. The LA will coordinate all applications. The Academy shall update the LA regularly of any in-year allocations, their numbers on roll, and vacancies. If there are more vacancies at the academy than applicants then all applicants will be invited into the academy for an admissions meeting. The Fair Access protocol is designed to facilitate the school placement of young people not on the roll of a school who are seeking admissions to a Manchester school or academy, live in the city of Manchester, and who fall into one of the categories mentioned below. It does not come into force if the pupil admission is during the standard transition process or for non-complex midyear admissions. E-ACT Blackley Academy is open to all learners aged three to eleven. E-Act Blackley Academy’s curriculum aims to entice children into learning and create a natural flow between all subjects. As your child’s first and most important educator, you are vital in helping them to become a confident, successful learner. We will involve you in academy life wherever we can, inviting you to see and share in the projects your child is working on so you can continue inspiring them outside of school hours. At E-ACT Blackley Academy we have created this bespoke Behaviour Tool Kit to help all children and adults feel safe, happy, and secure. It has been made in consultation with children, parents, carers, and staff. Our Behaviour Toolkit is what guides us in our daily practice. Academies have a wide range of policies and procedures that have been derived following guidance from the Department for Education.
