- At Bankhead, we work together to achieve our aim of providing a stimulating, secure, and effective learning experience for your child. We look forward to getting to know your child and developing the home/school links that help every pupil achieve their potential. Our school memorial is at the main entrance to the school and it is there to remember those who lost their lives when our school was bombed on Thursday 13th March 1941 during the Clydebank Blitz. During WW2, the school was used as a First Aid post and an Air Raid Warden’s post. We aim to engage each child in the learning process to develop his/her skills, talents, and abilities to the fullest potential in a caring and secure environment. We aim to provide a broad and balanced curriculum, which meets the needs of the whole child and stimulates a genuine interest in learning. Pupils will be encouraged to think for themselves, to be honest, resilient, adaptable, co-operative, well mannered, and active learners. Equal opportunities are available to all pupils in all aspects of the curriculum. The school realizes that it cannot achieve success in these aims without the continuous and full cooperation of the parents. A Curriculum for Excellence aims to develop pupils who are confident individuals, effective contributors, successful learners, and responsible citizens. To do this we work consistently to involve pupils in active learning experiences. These encourage and develop thinking skills, good communication skills, teamwork, problem-solving, and the ability to demonstrate learning in a variety of ways. To make learning more relevant we teach and develop many of the key skills in the context of cross-curricular topics. Pupils are taught to be responsible learners recognizing how they learn best, assessing their progress, and setting targets for their next steps in learning. We want our pupils to accept challenges and know how to use a variety of skills and perseverance to achieve the agreed target. View full school
