Aysgarth Prep School is a thriving community that provides boys with a homely environment in which to develop their potential. We act as 'parents' to the boys, with the support of a caring and dedicated team. We try to ensure that every boy is looked after and flourishing in every respect, working in partnership with their parents. We aim to prepare boys for the leading boarding schools in the country, and we aim to stretch every boy to make the most of their abilities in small groups and classes, whatever the activity. Alongside this ambition, we want boys to feel valued for who they are and to develop respect and concern for others. We believe that boarding provides tremendous benefits to those boys and parents who are willing to commit themselves to it. The breadth of opportunities and the time to enjoy them is a great advantage, with staff on hand to provide supervision and encouragement, and friends to add that extra dimension of fun! There is also intensity of activity and ambition, which stimulates boys to be get involved, whether in the classroom, on the games pitches, in music, creative arts, or in their ability to get along with others. Day boys also benefit by being a part of this community and can participate in almost every aspect of the school’s life. There is also scope for a gradual build-up to boarding. Aysgarth is a Christian environment in which the boys’ faith is encouraged and that they will develop values that will underpin their development in later life. As the only all-boys boarding Prep School in the north of Britain, Aysgarth sends more boys to selective schools such as Eton, Harrow, Winchester, and Radley than any other school in the north as well as to senior schools nearby. We aim high! We aim to stretch every boy to make the most of their abilities in small groups, whatever the activity.
