Astrakhan State University has become the most comprehensive educational center in the Astrakhan Region. Our University has trained thousands of highly qualified specialists who work successfully both in Russia and outside it. Our graduates make splendid careers at organizations whose activities relate to science, politics, economy, etc. Our University is a multipurpose educational facility. It includes 8 Institutes, 21 Departments, and 59 Chairs. Over 12 000 students are mastering humanitarian, natural science, technical, agricultural, and pedagogical specializations. The mission of Astrakhan State University: to create and promote knowledge for personal and social development by integrating researches and education to train successful alumni and scientists who exert a considerable impact upon the world community. Astrakhan State University has the most modern facilities. Inside our buildings, you can find multimedia lecture halls, labs with the best equipment, and comfortable canteens. We have a unique swimming pool, comfortable hostels for our students, a preventorium, to say nothing of other numerous facilities. We have provided the right conditions for students with special needs to study. One of our most important tasks is to train specialists who are demanded and will shortly be demanded by organizations and institutions operating in the economy, business, healthcare, the social sphere, etc. That is why the practice-oriented approach is of top priority for our educational process. Our students' versatile training is provided by our multi-level system of education and diversity of educational programs and specializations available for them. Over the last decade, A.S.U. Acquired the status of an innovative research center, it keeps on developing in this field. Our Technopark, our laboratories, and research centers are sites to conduct numerous researches in various sciences. Much attention is paid to our international activities. We deliver educational programs jointly with foreign universities, our partners, our students, and faculty take part in academic mobility programs regularly. Besides their educational and research activities, our students can demonstrate and develop their sports and arts abilities by taking part in various socialization projects. Student life is so versatile at A.S.U.: it is full of achievements in education and science, exciting and useful travels, and fantastic leisure activities. A.S.U. has established cultural links with the Islamic Republic of Iran and several Turkish universities. It has signed cooperation agreements with the Faculty of Foreign Languages of the University of Salento – F.L.S.L.E. (Lecce, Italy), with the L.U.S.E.F.E. University (Lecce, Italy), with the University of Guilan (Iran), with Stendhal University, Grenoble III (France), with the French-Russian Association of Educational Links, etc., We participate in a versatile large-scale international project to promote cooperation between universities of the European Union and the Caspian Sea Region besides A.S.U., the project involves Pohjois-Savo Polytechnic (Finland), the Newman College of Higher Education (Birmingham, UK), the University of Malaga (Spain), the Fachhochschule Niederrhein (Krefeld, Germany), the Peter Sabroe Seminaries (Arhus, Denmark), and the Dekker v.d.
