  1. The idea to build the Arabian Gulf University was based on the belief in the importance of university and higher-level education in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) society. This would be the start of satisfying the needs of GCC countries in terms of specialists and experts in various occupational fields connected to society. After studying the cultural, social, and economic situation in the GCC region, the challenges it faces, the shared historical background was also examined. It was found that united aspirations towards a brighter future, one of which was to create a melded co-existence, of mentality and of advancement in knowledge for members of the society at large to promote the area and growth in its various sectors. With this in mind, the General Convention of Arab Education for the GCC at its fourth meeting was held in Bahrain on the 4th of Jumada al-Oola, 1399 A.H, corresponding to the 3rd and 4th of April, 1979, the convention and it was decided to establish the Arabian Gulf University to be located in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The Arabian Gulf University looks forward to undertaking its role as a regional Gulf university in addressing the developmental issues of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries through its innovative and effective educational and research programs with relevance to Arabian Gulf regional issues and aspires to gain an eminent international reputation. The Arabian Gulf University aims to be an exemplary regional Gulf university striving to focus its efforts on fundamental regional issues of the Gulf Cooperation Council in health, human development, environment, science, and technology and aims to contribute effectively to spreading the culture of knowledge and education in Arabian Gulf society. The Arabian Gulf University and the College of Medicine and Medical Sciences were established by a Decree from the General Council of Ministers of Education in the GCC Countries at their 5th Meeting in Kuwait on 30th March 1980. The first batch of 37 students was admitted to the Pre-Medical Programme of the College in October 1982 and the first class graduated in 1989/90. The College admits up to 150 students annually from the GCC Member Countries according to an agreed allocation formula. Currently, in the academic year 2009-2010, the total number of registered Undergraduate Medical students in all six years is 797, and there are 41 students in three Graduate Programmes of the College. The primary mission of the College is to produce Medical Graduates able to recognize and respond effectively to the health needs of the individuals, families, and communities of the Arabian Gulf Region while remaining sensitive to the socio-cultural norms and Islamic Values of their people. Also, the College facilitates developments at all levels in the continuum of medical education and undertakes basic and applied research in response to priority health needs of the Region. The College of Graduate Studies, which was established in 1994, includes programs that existed under the two previous faculties: the Faculty of Applied Science and the Faculty of Education. This College currently includes a wide range of scientific disciplines that are unique and unavailable in other universities of the Arab Gulf states. The College of Graduate Studies in the Arabian Gulf University's administrative structure is different from the other units, as it depends on organizing graduate studies between various faculties of the university. It is an academic institution that offers integrated courses for students specializing in various disciplines that are given elsewhere. The College has programs in special education, through which it creates able educators that are capable of nurturing talented students, those with learning difficulties, (including students with mental disabilities and autism), as well as preparing specialists to be able to plan and implement distance education and training programs. It also includes programs in the field of technology to create specialists in the fields of deserts and arid lands (numerous programs including desert environment and desert resources, desert agriculture and farming techniques, hydroponics, information systems of geographic remote sensing, and hydrogeology), biotechnology, technical, management, environmental management, water resources management.
  2. The world has become smaller since APG School was established. Technology now has made it even more micro, enabling new playing fields for our global learners. We, the APG School community, with our dear parents' active involvement, make sure that our learners are equipped with the 21st-century skills set to succeed in the globalized world. Our international programs, such as the IGCSE and IB, prepare our learners to be highly knowledgeable, inquiring, caring, and active members of the global community. They are molded to become respectful of each other, of the environment, and the rest of humanity. We are proud of our alumni and alumnae, who have hurdled the IGCSE and IB assessments' rigor and given us excellent statistics of the results. We are proud of them who are now students of prestigious universities here and abroad. We are proud to even more of those who are recipients of highly competitive scholarships. Our commitment to APG School is to continue providing high standards of educational services. We aim at providing a very motivating positive, and inclusive learning environment set within the parameters of sound values and a discipline. An environment that will empower students to become knowledgeable, creative, caring, thinkers, and excellent communicators. We also aim at preparing APG students to succeed in high school, college, and life. Ultimately obtain a decent career in the future, meet the competitive labor market requirements, and become good citizens. To be the top quality school known for a strong emphasis on high morals and global competence in producing highly educated learners. To provide quality opportunities for learners to become Excellent in academics and intellect. Self-directed and lifelong learners. Good citizens with global awareness and competence. Respectful of others and with high regard for the natural environment. High achievers. Well-rounded individuals. APG is a private school situated at Capital Governorate – Khamis, Kingdom of Bahrain. It was founded in June 1996 by Mr. Mohammed Moosa Al A'ali. It was strictly planned to start the school with a population of 120 students during the first year of its operation, of which the school initially accommodated three levels: two levels of Preschool and Grade One. APG is named as Arabian Pearl Gulf to carry the national reflection attached to Bahrain's country as Pearl of the Gulf. A developmentally appropriate curriculum is one that is age-appropriate, individually appropriate, and socio-culturally appropriate. This Kindergarten framework considers the developmental benchmarks of four to six-year-olds and recommends strategies that address the learners' needs and interests. Kindergarteners are continually developing in the different domains (cognitive, language, physical, creative and aesthetic, socio-emotional, and values and character). Thus beginning at an early age, the child must be cared for and given all the opportunities to address current developmental needs and prepare him/her for lifelong learning. Kindergarten classrooms, therefore, should multi-level because kindergarteners will differ in their development in each domain.
