Founded in 1826, WRA is one of the country's top-ranked independent boarding and day schools, offering a dynamic and distinctive college preparatory curriculum on one of America's most beautiful campuses. Our setting in idyllic Hudson, Ohio, and our enduring values of excellence, compassion, and integrity provide the backdrop for a spectacular place to learn, with a pioneering mindset proper to our school identity.
We are transforming high school education because we are so much more than a high school. We are an independent school, a boarding school, a coed school, a melting pot, a family. We are all unique, but as individuals, we have created a community. Our student body comes from across the globe to live, learn, play, and grow together on our campus in historic Hudson, Ohio. WRA students find their independence, learn to think critically, gain confidence, mold their futures, create new skills, and forever embrace their world ahead.
Our rigorous academics rank us among the top boarding schools in the United States and top private schools in Ohio, but the WRA experience is more significant than that. The WRA experience is anchored in our values of excellence, integrity, and compassion. Whether in the classroom, on the field, on the stage, in the community, or at home, WRA Pioneers work hard, support each other and live with heart. Our faculty are not just teachers but advisors, mentors, coaches, and supporters of our students. Not to mention they are some of the smartest and most talented people you will ever meet.
Some elements of Reserve have stayed the same because the things that matter most still matter here. Students thank their teachers after class. Passersby stop and say hello. We sit down for meals together. We all play sports. As a boarding community, we gather in our beautiful dormitories and in the on-campus homes of faculty to cook, play music, read books, and laugh.
Always evolving, we have moved beyond the AP curriculum, have opened our high-tech dream space, The Wang Innovation Center, and offer students life-changing study through programs of distinction like Compass, Saturday Academy, and Beyond Reserve. You will read much more about our world-class faculty and students from around the country and the world on this site.
A Western Reserve Academy education offers a transformational experience where students strive for excellence, live with integrity, and act with compassion. Our faculty cultivate intellectual curiosity through a challenging college preparatory program. Our students pursue a rigorous liberal arts curriculum and engage in opportunities beyond the classroom in arts, athletics, and service, ensuring growth in mind, body, and spirit. Western Reserve Academy's tight-knit community instills individual and social responsibility and welcomes and respects diversity while preparing students as citizens and leaders in an increasingly interconnected world.
Even though we're approaching our 200th year, Western Reserve Academy is young at heart. Our history and traditions inspire us to grow, change, and pioneer. Our students today are smart, honest, and more inquisitive than ever. In a culture where acceptance and understanding is the norm, we take it to the next level. Saying hello as you walk down Brick Row, thanking others for their time and supporting one another through thick and thin.
