Founded in 1960 as North Palm Beach Private School by Nancy and Marshall Benjamin, The Benjamin School of today is one of the nation's premier independent day schools. From Early Childhood through Upper School (grades PK3 - 12), we offer students a wide range of possibilities across broad horizons.

With over 1,100 students enrolled on two campuses in North Palm Beach and Palm Beach Gardens, The Benjamin School offers a comprehensive experience academically, athletically, and artistically. Through a wide range of courses, class trips, and co-curricular clubs and sports, students learn to work independently and collaboratively.

Children begin their educational journey in our Lower School with core academic subjects and art, music, world languages (French, Mandarin Chinese, and Spanish), and physical education. We emphasize foundational skills in reading, writing, and mathematics in small classes, interwoven with sophisticated and engaging educational experiences. Students also enjoy plenty of time outside for both Freeplay and learning.

We understand students learn best when they are engaged. That is why The Benjamin School emphasizes interdisciplinary, project-based learning in all grades. Unit studies incorporate history, social studies, literature, art, science, music, language, and mathematics to teach concepts and develop skills. The Benjamin School offers the quintessential high school experience, with many classroom opportunities, on the playing field, in the studio, and on the stage. Our Upper School unquestionably prepares students for college demands and the rigors of 21st-century careers and world citizenship.

The mission of The Benjamin School is to provide a challenging college-preparatory education to a diverse student body in a structured, nurturing community environment. The School motivates students to master learning, communicating, and evaluating choices and encourages them to grow intellectually, socially, morally, aesthetically, and physically to their fullest individual potential. Benjamin inspires its students to develop a coherent set of values that includes a love of learning, personal responsibility, self-motivation, concern for others, and a commitment to serve society. Guiding Principles:

    • Our primary responsibility is to address our students' academic needs while developing and supporting their interest in and passion for the arts, athletics, and community service.
    • We strive for excellence in everything we do at The Benjamin School to prepare our students for college and beyond.
    • We acknowledge and celebrate the individual set of strengths demonstrated by each student.
    • We expect all community members to adhere to the highest standards of personal conduct, honesty, and accountability.
    • We are committed to the importance of all aspects of diversity among its constituencies.
    • Our twelve character traits constitute the values we subscribe to both on- and off-campus: Respect, Courage, Morality, Kindness, Fairness, Integrity, Compassion, Acceptance, Forgiveness, Gratitude, Perseverance, and Responsibility.
    • We depend on a respectful and collaborative partnership between School and home.
    • We set high standards and advocate for each student to meet them. In so doing, we prepare our students to become independent, self-directed, collaborative, and fearless learners.
    • Guided by proven research and best practices, we encourage creativity and innovation throughout the School to meet the students' emerging needs.
    • We must prepare the students for their future and not our past.
    • We take pride in our students, our faculty, and our reputation. We believe that the best schools have the best people. They are the foundation of our success.

The Benjamin School strives to foster a talented, richly varied school culture by equipping students with the necessary skills to successfully interact and flourish within our multicultural society and the interconnected global community. We believe an inclusive community encourages a union of strengths and broadens the vision for all.

Learning at Benjamin is an active verb. Teachers challenge students to test the status quo, make connections across disciplines, and extend the horizons of knowledge. From science to social studies, literature to mathematics, world language, and culture to the arts, The Benjamin School inspires excellence and innovation—both of ourselves and our students.

Beginning in the Lower School with our program for 3-year-old students, Benjamin teachers get to know children as individuals, recognizing their strengths and interests, and helping them develop to their full potential. As students move through our Middle and Upper School, they thrive under the tutelage of masterful teachers, achieving beyond any perceived expectations.
