Roycemore was founded as a girls' college preparatory school and became coeducational in 1962. The original north Evanston campus was located in a National Historic Landmark building designed by Lawrence Buck. The School relocated to a new campus at 1200 Davis Street, Evanston, in late 2011.
Roycemore has a welcoming, cheerful, and energetic school culture. Students, teachers, administrators, and parents work together to maintain a community that reflects the School's core values: respect for others, appreciation of differences, and a commitment to academic excellence in a challenging but non-competitive environment. This culture is supported by character education in Lower School and Advisory in Middle and Upper Schools. Students select their faculty advisors and engage in a small group conversation about issues relevant to adolescents. Parents are encouraged to be involved and to help enrich and sustain the family-like atmosphere of the School.

We are products of our expectations . . . what we expect of ourselves and what we expect of others." At Roycemore, we have high expectations of our students, and those expectations are individualized and differentiated for each member of our community.
- Provides an opportunity for young people to do things they have never done before, in an environment of support and safety where students are encouraged to take educational risks and understand that failure is a critical step along the path to growth and success. So while we have high expectations, we have an environment where teachers genuinely know each student and support them as they work through challenges in their educational and life journey.
Our goal as a college prep school is to develop independent learners who understand their learning styles to advocate for themselves and benefit from a variety of educational opportunities. Our learning specialists' team includes a learning specialist in each division and a gifted coordinator who works school-wide. We work with students in various ways, such as one-on-one assistance, small groups, and push-in for classroom support. One-on-one support is scheduled in advance with families and is offered for an additional service fee while the other support areas are provided as part of our program. We develop curriculum and support teachers in advancement, enrichment, accommodations, and modifications when appropriate.
As the Student Success Team, we embrace diversity in learning styles and understand individual needs. We work with families, colleagues, and additional professionals, including our consulting psychologist, to support each student's unique needs. We are a school that can serve students with mild to moderate learning differences and giftedness, and twice-exceptionality. Our team, in partnership with the family, will evaluate each student's needs and analyze our resources to ensure that we are giving quality attention to their academic career and to determine if Roycemore is the right fit for each student. We ask families to share any evaluations completed before applying to Roycemore so that we can ensure quality programming for the individual student. If an evaluation has not been completed, we may encourage families to seek further testing to gain a deeper understanding of the student.
