We are a rigorous, independent day school with a proud history of educating the whole child. We believe in our students, and, as a faculty and staff, we conduct our work with their best interests in mind. It is the quality of our people and the quality of our relationships that give us meaning and purpose, and, as a result, we are a strong community, both inside and out. But you need to visit our campus and see us in action. Our mission compels us to "train minds, bodies, and hearts for the work of life, and to carry into all we do the highest ideals of character and service," so we have a great deal to live up to as faculty staff. Quite literally, we are shaping the future by acting and doing well at the moment. And by modeling the way, we are in a unique position to support our students. We aim to train minds, bodies, and hearts for the work of life and carry into all we do the highest character and service ideals. Nichols Core Nichols Values:

    • At Nichols, inspired teachers and students are committed to a quality standard of learning and achievement in all aspects of school life.
    • Our community strives to cultivate each student's sense of responsibility, compassion, honesty, and self-discipline, producing confident and ethical young people.
    • Grounded in the past wisdom, we stimulate adaptive and innovative abilities to prepare our students for the future.
    • Our challenging expectations and structured environment bring out potential. Each student is encouraged to find the balance among academic, artistic, athletic, and extra-curricular involvements.
    • Nichols School reflects the region's neighborhoods and the wider world, building mutual respect and understanding. In our daily school life, we strive to be a caring community for each individual.

At Nichols, you will find dedicated faculty focused on preparing students to thrive in the global community of the 21st century. With an average class size of 14, teachers foster each student's talents beyond the limitations of standardized testing to develop intellectual and extra-curricular passions. Through challenging academics, exceptional art and athletic programs, and fulfilling leadership and character education opportunities, students are engaged in experiences suiting a wide range of talents and interests. Lasting friendships are forged with peers and teachers alike, and through meaningful relationships with advisors, teachers, coaches, and other mentors, every student is known as an individual.

Nichols's education focuses on the intellectual and personal growth of every student. Our award-winning faculty are leaders in their field; more than 75% of them hold advanced degrees. Nichols students graduate prepared for college and beyond with the intellectual foundation and confidence to succeed in any field.

Our students and faculty often speak of the "culture of extra help." Students are encouraged to work with their teachers outside the classroom to reinforce fundamental concepts or expand the curriculum and explore new ideas. It is this individual attention to every student makes a Nichols education genuinely exceptional.
