Chaminade High School

Chaminade High School has been serving the Long Island community since its founding in 1930. The school is owned and operated by the Society of Mary, the Marianists, and is named after Blessed William Joseph Chaminade. Blessed Chaminade founded the order as a priest working to evangelize post-revolutionary France.
Our 1,700 men study a rigorous co-curricular, liberal-arts curriculum in an atmosphere that emphasizes the development of the heart's Christian community and education. That program consists of four years of the core subjects, physical education, three years of fine arts, and one year of health. Chaminade graduates are fully prepared for the most demanding college curricula, and, each year, 100% of Chaminade graduates attend colleges, universities, prep schools, and service academies. More than 90% of Chaminade students are engaged in one or more school activities, and more than half participate in interscholastic athletic teams.
"Fortes in Unitate," Latin for "Strength in Unity," is more than just the Chaminade High School motto. It is a mission to provide the best Catholic education for young men on Long Island that emphasizes community and education of the heart. Our teachers live the mission. The Chaminade program advances the mission with the latest technology available. Our co-curricular and extra-curricular activities bring classroom lessons to life. Chaminade High School combines the proven curriculum and methods of a successful tradition with modern pedagogical advances to provide its students with a rich, qualitative educational experience. The Chaminade program, offered in an atmosphere of positive Christian commitment, requires a thorough study of basic intellectual disciplines while offering extensive co-curricular and extra-curricular opportunities for practical application and personal understanding.
Each Chaminade High School student is issued a 64GB iPad Air 2. It is used for classroom instruction, homework, collaborative projects, and examinations. The purpose of Chaminade's use of this technology is obvious: to cultivate a multi-modal, collaborative learning environment where students engage with a traditional liberal-arts curriculum as they develop new skills, mature into conscientious digital citizens, and nurture a desire for lifelong learning.
In addition to coursework in the core subjects, digital citizenship instruction teaches students how to use the Internet responsibly. However, with the advent of digital technology in the classroom, what hasn't changed at Chaminade is our most valuable teaching tool -- the interpersonal connections built between our teachers and our students.
Chaminade remains committed to your family from the day your son arrives for his first day of school long after graduation. The brotherhood to which Chaminade men belong is reinforced with collaborative classwork, daily prayer, and service projects for the school and the broader community.
An essential part of the high school experience is participation with fellow students and faculty members in personal interest and development activities. More than 90% of our students participate in a full range of sports and activities that stimulate and develop their interests. Co-curricular activities allow the student to pursue interests and talents related to the course of study. Extra-curricular activities give the student a chance to serve and pursue interests not directly related to his studies.
