Welcome to the Benet Academy. Here you will find a wealth of information concerning our Catholic, Benedictine, college-preparatory school that serves secondary-level students from various Chicago area suburbs. Whether you are a prospective student or parent, a current member of our school community, or an alum, benefactor, or friend, we trust that our website and the links to affiliated sites will serve as a vital resource in providing you with accurate and timely information about our school. Every effort has been made to organize the site logically with tabs covering areas of prime interest and constituency headings for groups such as students, parents, faculty & staff, and alumni.
As a Benedictine school, we are committed to extending hospitality to all, for as our patron saint reminds us in The Rule of St. Benedict, "All guests who present themselves are to be welcomed as Christ, for he will say: I was a stranger and you welcomed me (Matt 25:35) (RB 53.1-2). Though St. Benedict envisioned only such guests' physical presence, we recognize that many visitors' first encounter with us will be through electronic media in the twenty-first century. Therefore, we encourage you to browse this website thoroughly and frequently. Please know, however, that we will also welcome your inquiries via telephone and email.
Many of you may know that our school's motto is "Ora et Labora" or "Pray and Work." We labor daily here at Benet Academy to provide a structured educational program to foster our students' spiritual, intellectual, social, and physical development. While our curricular offerings and co-curricular activities are critical to our ongoing successes in this endeavor, we recognize the integral role that teachers, coaches, moderators, and parents serve in our young people's education. Moreover, we are profoundly grateful to the Monks of St. Procopius Abbey and the generous alumni, benefactors, and friends. They offer their prayers and gifts in support of our mission. Ultimately, however, we humbly recognize that it is only through the grace of God that we have been able to continue and enhance this educational ministry since the founding of the Academy in 1887.
The mission of Benet Academy, as a Catholic, Benedictine, college preparatory high school, is to provide a disciplined educational environment that fosters the ongoing religious, intellectual, and social development of its students. Many strengths have characterized benet Academy throughout the years. Among the most important are a traditional and rigorous curriculum as well as a passionate and knowledgeable faculty. The curriculum that students enjoy is time tested but not static. Benet Academy has eschewed educational fads but has also reflectively adopted valuable educational innovations. Thanks to a particular combination of challenging coursework and support from dedicated educators, students graduate as confident young men and women ready to excel in their next life chapter.
At Benet Academy, we are committed to providing the best computing experience possible for all school users. We work tirelessly to ensure that all students, staff, and faculty have access to a wide range of technology at their desks and in their classrooms. Our efforts are aimed at achieving the Academy's technology goal: Benet Academy will collaborate to improve students' abilities to research, organize, collaborate, develop productive workflows and maintain high ethical standards using digital technology.
Over the past few years, we have been working hard to upgrade our school technology to meet our ever-changing tech landscape needs. Since 2012 we have overseen improvements to our infrastructure and end-user devices. In the summer of 2014, we upgraded our wireless network to reach all corners of our building and to meet the needs of our future goals.
