Gwaelod y Garth Primary School is a dual-stream community school, which provides its pupils with education through the medium of Welsh or English, depending on parental choice. We are lucky enough to have beautiful surroundings and some wonderful buildings, but ultimately the real strength of Ysgol Gwaelod y Garth Primary School rests with the school community. The team is a strong one, relationships are excellent, the staff and children are well motivated and the parents and governors are very supportive. Education is a partnership between the school and the home and we value the excellent relationship we have with all parents.
As a school, we are proud of the collaboration between the Walsh and English Units. Pupils enjoy playing together during playtimes, share assemblies and presentations, and have the opportunity to interact during school clubs. Some activities and lessons are introduced collaboratively including Chess lessons and PE lessons. Teachers from the Welsh and English Units plan, prepare and share good practice to ensure standards are high throughout the school.

During recent years a significant rebuilding and refurbishment program has been in place to improve the quality of accommodation. During 2011 a further rebuilding and refurbishment program was completed. The school kitchen is now situated in the Village Hall and the Hall is now for school use during the school day and community use during the evenings and weekends. This is an exciting development for the school and will be of great benefit to the school and the community as a whole.
