Bancyfelin School is in the village of Bancyfelin which is located halfway between the towns of Carmarthen and St. Clears. The school was built in 1872 and an extension was added in 2002 to accommodate a classroom for the Foundation Phase. We have a play area suitable for the younger pupils as well as a yard, play court, and field for the older pupils.
Our school’s principal aims and objectives are to:

- Nurture an enjoyment of learning by building and developing the strengths and talents of all our pupils.
- Enable every pupil to develop the skills, knowledge, and understanding to be successful and confident learners.
Sustain our high expectations in our pupils’ standards of achievement as well as the skills and professional development of all our staff. Develop the skills, knowledge, and attitude essential for our pupils to become responsible, purposeful, and effective citizens in our local as well as in the wider community. Ensure effective co-operation, trust, and support amongst all members of our school’s community for the well-being and development of our pupils. The education of each child is a three-way partnership between parents, pupils, and teachers.
Every effort is made to ensure that parents are well informed about the work of the school through regular newsletters and information.
Formal meetings between parents and teachers are arranged by the school and our ‘open-door policy welcomes informal contact between parents and staff regularly. Parents are encouraged to support their children’s learning at home by assisting with homework, reading, and learning tables. The school organizes presentations for parents and governors on aspects such as ‘Reading’, ‘Mathematics’, ‘The Foundation Phase’, ‘Thinking Skills’, ‘Assessment’ and ‘Safety on the Internet. Parents provide valuable practical as well as financial support for the school and assist with activities. The Friends of the School Association arrange fundraising events such as a ‘Sponsored Pyjamas, Teddies, and Wellies Walk’ ‘School Sports’ and ‘Christmas Bingo’
