Our school values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning and provide an environment that prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens. Entry into The Hollies School is via the Local Authority (LA). Children requiring a special school placement are placed on the Pupil’s Admission List. A multi-disciplinary panel meeting is held by the LA to discuss the needs of each child. The LA advises parents on visiting the special schools. Parents are welcome to make an appointment to visit The Hollies where they will be given a tour of the school and can discuss the needs of their child and what the school has to offer.

If parents decide that they wish their child to have a place at The Hollies School then the Authority will make the necessary arrangements if a place is available. All pupils entering The Hollies School will have a statement of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).

We all share a responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, whether as a parent, or family member, friend or neighbor, an employer, or as a paid or volunteer worker. All members of the community can help to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people and should act to do so if they have concerns about a child’s welfare” Safeguarding Children: Working Together under the Children Act 2004”

The Hollies School aims to provide an environment in which children and young people feel safe, secure, valued, and respected and feel confident, and know-how to approach adults if they are in difficulties, believing they will be effectively listened to.

There are 4 main elements to our policy in implementing the above aim:

    • Prevention through the teaching and pastoral support offered to pupils and the creation and maintenance of a whole school safe environment where children know who to approach with any concerns about their welfare.
    • Procedures for identifying and reporting concerns about the welfare of a child. Because of our day to day contact with children, school stag are well placed to observe the outward signs of abuse
    • Support To Pupils who have/may have been abused
    • Preventing Unsuitable People Working With Children through robust vetting and recruitment processes
