St Paul's is a voluntary aided Church of England school with a strong Christian ethos and set of values. The school is a popular oversubscribed, one-form entry, primary school with a current roll of 210 children. It serves its local community encompassing Belsize and Camden Town with Primrose Hill wards. St Paul's CE Primary School is situated next to Primrose Hill Park in the London Borough of Camden.

Parents strongly express their desire for their children to attend St Paul's due to the ethos and the positive, inclusive way we encourage the school's values, which the children demonstrate in their daily lives.

St Paul’s School serves the whole community, whatever the individual faiths or beliefs of families are. Our mission, working together, is to shape the child, and therefore the adult, drawing on Christian insights, to understand how to live fully and ‘shine as lights in the world.’ Philippians 2.16

    We will:

    • Strive for academic excellence by challenging and supporting all children in their learning
    • Provide a broad curriculum that encourages curiosity and a love of learning
    • Give excellent care and guidance to help children be safe, to develop physical well-being and emotional maturity
    • Encourage children to become good neighbors and citizens
    • Nurture a lifelong attitude of awe, wonder, and thankfulness.

Today, St Paul’s C E Primary School is closely linked with the parish church of St. Mary’s, and the relationship between the church and the school is maintained by the presence of local Anglicans on the Governing body, and the weekly involvement of the vicar in assemblies and other school activities. The children also make regular visits to church. In addition, our school works closely with the London Diocesan Board for Schools (LDBS).

Our core value of Respect ensures tolerance of those who have different faiths and beliefs. St Paul’s enhances pupils’ understanding of different faiths and beliefs through Religious Education studies, including visits to a range of places of worship. Pupils and parents are also invited to talk about their faith, as well as sharing cultural traditions such as food and dance. In this way, our pupils gain an enhanced understanding of their place in a culturally diverse society.

Within school, pupils are actively encouraged to make choices in a safe and supportive environment. As a school, we educate and provide boundaries for our pupils to make choices safely through the provision of a safe environment and empowering education. Our pupils are encouraged to know, understand and exercise their rights and personal freedoms and are advised how to exercise these safely. Examples of this can be seen clearly in our e-safety and PSHE lessons. In addition, children have a wide choice of extra-curricular activities.

The pupils understand that respect is essential to exist in harmony with each other. It is expected that respect is shown to everyone, whatever differences we may have. The core value of respect at St Paul’s underpins our work every day, both in and out of the classroom, and is also reflected in our Christian values.
