A Catholic School is not simply a place where lessons are taught. It is a center that has an educational philosophy, attentive to the needs of the child, and is illumined by the Gospel message. Religion is integrated into all the objectives and criteria which characterize our school.
In St. Anthony's we try to create a community climate that reproduces, as far as possible, the warm atmosphere of a Christian family. We try to create a spirit of trust. We encourage close and constant collaboration with parents leading to the integration of school and home.
Each child in our school is seen as unique. The process of education is a service to the individual child, helping each one to achieve the most complete formation possible.
The environment of the school lives makes statements about the ethos of the school, its values, and priorities, without any words. In this environment, we hope to help parents to teach affection, respect, obedience, gratitude, goodness, helpfulness and be a good example to their child, as every child in the school helps to create the climate of the school. Every child will be encouraged in daily life to strive for the highest level of formation, both human formation, and Christian formation.
We expect high levels of self-discipline and good manners from all our pupils, and our behavior policy fully details both our expectations and sanctions should these standards fall short. New parents on joining our school are invited to read and sign our Home School Agreement, a copy of which is available from the school office.
St. Anthony's is a Catholic Voluntary Aided, co-educational Primary School for children aged 3 - 11 years. It serves the Parish of St. Anthony's although children do come from other parishes and non-Catholic families.
The present school was built in 1969 to replace the old school. A separate nursery unit was built in 1972 with a further extension to this in 2000. The building is flat-roofed and of brick and wood construction. There are large playing fields and a playing yard. The school is within walking distance of Chester.
