St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School is a happy, thriving school with very strong links to the Parish and the families we serve. We are a caring Catholic community with our mission firmly based on the teaching of Jesus Christ. We offer a warm, welcoming environment and a school ethos where the uniqueness of every individual is valued, and relationships are based on respect.
We are proud of our school and its good reputation for high standards of teaching and learning, and the success of all our children. Our vision is for every child to be happy, caring, and responsible to develop a lifelong love of learning, to achieve their full potential, and to prepare them for future challenges.
We aim to achieve our vision by ensuring that we make learning real, enjoyable, and challenging. We open doors to ambition and possibilities, striving for and achieving excellence. Parents who choose St Anthony’s entrust us with the welfare and progress of their children – one of the most important jobs in the world – and it is a responsibility we take very seriously indeed.
St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School is a Catholic Primary School under the trusteeship of the Diocese of Shrewsbury and is part of the Wythenshawe Catholic Academy Trust. As an academy, the Governing Body is the Admissions Authority and is responsible for taking decisions on applications for admissions. The coordination of admissions arrangements is undertaken by the Manchester Education Authority. For the School's year commencing 2019 / 2020, the Governing Body has set its admission number at ninety.
St Anthony's School is delighted to provide a wide range of extra-curricular activities to the children both during and after the school day, to further enhance their learning. We have a Breakfast Club, Wake-up Shake-up Club, and we offer a large choice of sporting clubs and teams, including Netball, Football, Cross-Country Running, Rounders, Multi-Sports, and Hockey, as well as Art, School Choir, and more.
A visiting music specialist runs a 'Glee' style singing and drama club, and all our staff contributes to an out-of-school activity. These operate for ten sessions each term and a nominal charge is made for each session. We listen to the children and work together to try and improve our extra-curricular facilities by providing activities that encourage participation, stimulate the mind and expand horizons.
At St Anthony’s we stand together following Christ in all that we do. We love life, have fun, forgive and celebrate as a Catholic family. We give all of ourselves and always accept a challenge. Lord, help us to shine like stars and share the good news of Jesus.“Journeying together with Jesus Christ, we learn to love and love to learn.”

Premium funding is funding in which every school receives to boost the attainment of pupils from low-income families or pupils who are in care. Funding is based on children who have registered for a free school meal at any point in the last six years, children that have been in care for more than six months, and children whose parents are currently serving in the Armed Forces. The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, which is additional to main school funding is the best way to address the current variation in attainment between children eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) and their wealthier peers. This funding is aimed at reaching those who need it most.
St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School is a mainstream school that provides education for children aged 3-11 years. We are committed to meeting the needs of all children, including those with SEND, through inclusive teaching and attitudes. A variety of interventions and further SEND provisions are planned for children with additional needs.
The Education Reform Act says that the school curriculum should promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental, and physical development of pupils and society. School should play its part in preparing pupils for the responsibilities and experiences of adult life. Religious Education is a vital part of our children’s education and the formation of each child in their knowledge of themselves, their gifts, and their relationship with God. We want our children to know that they are made in the likeness of God and to understand that God gave all of us different talents which we can share with others.
This is a Catholic school that seeks to live out the values of Jesus Christ. We promote these values by our words and actions, and our Catholic practice, therefore, permeates every aspect of the school’s activity. We are guided by our mission, which states ‘Let your words teach and your actions speak’.
We provide a Catholic curriculum, which is broad and balanced, recognizing that every pupil is unique and is created in the image of God (Gen 1: 27). Our curriculum is designed to enable every pupil to discern their vocation and to be well-equipped to follow it as active citizens in service to the world. We also provide a wide range of extra-curricular activities and strong pastoral support. We incorporate democratic principles, value the rule of law, support individual liberty and foster a community in which different faiths and beliefs are respected.
