St Angela’s Ursuline School is an 11-18 voluntary-aided girls’ school founded by the Ursuline Sisters in 1862 and now under the trusteeship of the Diocese of Brentwood. The school is part of the Ursuline tradition which has, at its hallmark the pursuit of the highest standards possible in education. Through our curriculum and community life, we seek to meet the needs of the whole person and to enable all to achieve their full potential. We offer to all the challenge of building up and living in a Catholic Christian community in which all members are equally valued. We share with St Angela a commitment to the service of young people which will empower them to play their full part in society.
The school population reflects the Catholic population of the borough, which is largely Afro-Caribbean, African, Filipino, and white. 90% of the school population are from ethnic minorities.
St. Angela's is a focused, hard-working, and friendly Catholic school, aiming to provide every opportunity for our students to achieve their very best and to leave our school confident and independent young women, well equipped for higher education and life beyond.
We are pushing the frontiers of education in every direction and have embraced new teaching and learning initiatives, allowing our students to learn at an accelerated rate. We carefully monitor individual progress and provide the highest standard of pastoral care and learning support.

The development of a coherent and integrated approach to all that we do must focus on our core work of teaching and learning. If our structures, systems, strategies, or daily procedures lose sight of this fact we are, quite simply, working on the wrong agenda. Thus the development of Accelerated Learning, and indeed this Teaching and Learning policy is not set in isolation from our other strategies for development. All processes and practices (should) lead us towards the improvement of our capacity to put the learner at the center of our work.
