At Selly Park Technology College pupils feel valued and parents are welcomed as partners in their daughter’s education. By working together we ensure that all students enjoy their time at school, make excellent progress and leave us as confident learners with the necessary skills and attitudes to lead successful and fulfilling lives.
Teaching and learning are at the heart of all we do. We believe that everyone has unique talents and is capable of leading and making contributions to our school, local community, and the wider world. Whilst we provide a broad and balanced curriculum that ensures progression in traditional subjects, we also offer many creative and more practical-based opportunities for our students and staff to explore our diverse world and the people who inhabit it.
We recognize the individual contributions and successes of our students and staff as we encourage personal self-worth, leadership, and responsibility. Our positive, encouraging culture carries us on a wave of ambition and excitement. The school ethos is felt as you walk around and meet the staff and pupils everyone feels valued and knows the difference that they make to our school.
We retain the benefits of a small school and therefore we can prioritize the individual needs of students. Nevertheless, we have high aspirations and expectations of all our pupils and we aim to help develop, not only academic success but also relationships that are characterized by kindness, tolerance, helpfulness, and respect.
We are an 11 to 16 school with approximately 700 pupils. We pride ourselves on keeping pace with educational innovation while promoting the traditional values of self-respect, tolerance, and consideration for others. We retain all the benefits of a small school, with an emphasis on individualized learning, but provide a full, broad, and balanced curriculum. Our mission is to be a Centre of Learning for all members of our community. We recognize that we have achieved much we are not yet at the level we wish to be, but we are committed to continual improvement against our previous best.
Our aims are to:

We are proud of the multicultural nature of our school and have a proven track record for promoting community cohesion at local, national, and international levels. Our school exists to provide a stimulating and enriching education for all our pupils. Parents, pupils, and staff all have a vital role to play in creating a positive, happy, and mutually supportive environment in which every individual can develop her potential, both socially and academically.
Throughout every student's time at the school, we appreciate that there will be occasions when she will require help and support. This often arises in different forms and we pride ourselves on the quality and range of individual support and guidance we offer. We acknowledge that some students may have Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND) the majority of these needs are met through the differentiation that is accessed within the mainstream curriculum and the interventions we offer as part of our personalized curriculum. Occasionally some girls need additional help. The Learning Support Department works with pupils, parents, and external support agencies to ensure those with Additional Needs access the support, help, and guidance they need.
