Overton Grange School: an Academy committed to providing excellent secondary education for the local community. As Ofsted stated in February 2016 “This is a Good Academy”. Overton Grange School is a co-educational community of approximately 1,250 11-19-year-old students. In June 2011 the School converted from being a secondary school run by the London Borough of Sutton to ‘Academy Status’ (an independent state school overseen by the Department for Education). This means we have more control over our curriculum and resources but we remain committed to high-quality non-selective education for local Sutton children and to working in close partnership with secondary and primary schools and the local community.

In partnership with parents and the community, Overton Grange aims to provide opportunities for its students that enable them to play an active role in the twenty-first century. As members of a co-educational comprehensive school, students have full access to and experience of the curriculum regardless of race, class, gender, physical ability, and religious belief.
The School promotes a sense of self-esteem, responsibility, and tolerance in young people. It values and challenges the individual so that they achieve the highest levels of attainment whatever their starting point.
Overton Grange places great emphasis on high academic and vocational standards and has at its heart the development of the whole person. Expectations are high and the achievement of the individual is celebrated. Overton Grange provides a supportive atmosphere based on self-discipline, mutual respect, co-operation, and understanding. Students are encouraged to take responsibility both for their learning and for the environment in which they live.
Overton Grange has an extensive extra-curricular program that includes clubs, after-school activities, and visits. Current clubs on offer include: ‘Let’s get the cooking club, United in Dance, Gymnastics, Boys and Girls Football, Netball, Duke of Edinburg Award, Gym Squad, Basketball, Chess Club, Choir, Cricket, Athletics, Film Club, Homework Clubs, Film Club, ICT extra, Orchestra, Reading Club, Science Club, and Table Tennis.
The Sixth Form at Overton Grange will offer you a great deal, most importantly perhaps a wide range of subject choices, good quality teaching, and excellent learning resources. Our A-Level and BTEC results speak for themselves and we hope you will take this opportunity to see the facilities for yourself and meet the teachers and sixth form students. There is a positive ethos of ambition, cooperation, and common purpose in the Sixth Form. It is a caring community that is committed to playing a positive role within the wider school and beyond, into the locality.
We believe we have achieved a good balance between giving Sixth Form students freedom and independence as they learn to manage their time effectively and the close monitoring and support needed to ensure that they do not slip through the net at this important stage in their education and personal lives. Parents are informed and involved throughout each student’s career here but the students are treated as young adults and expected to reflect on their performance, identify strengths and weaknesses and find their solutions to some of the challenges they face. They do this within a framework of professional support and guidance from the support and teaching staff at the school. We take pride in knowing our students well as individuals and supporting their unique path through the challenges of Key Stage 5.
