Clifton Primary is a vibrant and exciting school in Balsall Heath, Birmingham. We are very proud of being graded as 'Outstanding by Ofsted in 2009 and 2013. Clifton Primary is a growing school. We have 102 children currently in Nursery (59 attend in the mornings and 43 in the afternoon), we are four form entry throughout the school. Currently, we have 938 children on roll including Nursery.
In the last four years, we have had our Rainforest building built which includes 12 classrooms, and have refurbished our old infant block to become a new Early Years Foundation Stage building. This includes a brand new sports hall and main entrance to the school, which is now on Brunswick Road. We opened our brand new Universe building in February 2016 for our Year 6 children.
Children attending Clifton Primary School live in the local catchment area which is part of the Sparkbrook Ward, Birmingham. Clifton Primary is an outstanding school. We have worked hard to gain many awards including the Basic Skills Quality Mark Artsmark Gold Primary Science Quality Mark Full International Primary Award Active Primary Healthy Schools Award and Financial Standards Management. Most recently we have received the UNICEF UK Recognition of Commitment (ROC) for our Rights Respecting School work.
We are part of the Greet Teaching School Alliance and are linked to many colleges as a training school. We have links with schools locally, nationally, and internationally in Gambia, Australia, Rwanda, Sudan, Singapore, and South Africa. Working with parents is a particular strength we run (sometimes in association with local colleges) a range of programs which include literacy, numeracy, ESOL, first aid, and ICT skills.
Our vision for Clifton Primary School is to enable all children to achieve their full potential in a safe, welcoming, and happy learning environment. We will strive to create responsible citizens who are independent and confident lifelong learners equipped to meet the challenges of a changing future. This will be achieved within an inclusive school that values every individual and celebrates the diversity of our community.
At Clifton Primary School we aim to:

Teaching and learning at Clifton is based on the New National Curriculum 2014 for Years 1 to 6 and the Statutory Framework for our Nursery and Reception children. Across the school, teachers work to ensure the curriculum is rich, varied, and meets all of the children's needs.
IPC is a comprehensive, thematic, creative curriculum for 3 to 11-year-olds. The IPC has been designed to ensure rigorous learning but also to help teachers make all learning exciting, active, and meaningful for children. Each topic has an entry and an exit point, which help bring learning alive. At Clifton, IPC is used to teach foundation subjects, such as History, Geography, Design Technology, and Art. Wherever possible, teachers link IPC topics into literacy and numeracy lessons.
Children are at the heart of any community and Clifton Primary School has been serving the Balsall Heath Community since 1878! The school has a wonderful track record of absorbing all the changes which occur and responding to such changes with expertise and enthusiasm. Ambitions have always been high – children respond well to the challenges and opportunities they are given and this was recognized by the School being graded as 'outstanding' once again by Ofsted in 2014.
We have now concluded our major building program which gives an excellent environment for learning in the widest possible way. The Woodland Building houses our Nursery and EYFS children. The Ocean Building and the Rainforest Buildings both house Years 1 to 5 and the Universe is specifically for Year 6. We hope that we will be able to use these buildings to further develop parental and community involvement, supporting our children as they grow and mature into active, healthy, and confident young people.
