We believe that a broad and enriching curriculum is an entitlement for all children, irrespective of their race, gender, religion, or social background and that it must support every child to achieve their full potential.
As a strong, supportive community, we all work in close partnership to ensure our children’s education provides the skills and knowledge they need to thrive globally, nationally, and locally, growing into responsible and successful citizens. Our passion includes achieving the very best for every individual within an inspiring, creative and safe environment.
Across the whole school, children’s learning is promoted and organized through their exposure to and involvement with a broad and stimulating curriculum focusing on themes – areas of learning where the children can negotiate the direction they want to take whilst also ensuring all the key academic and life skills are developed.
It is very important to us that our children understand there is a real reason for learning and have opportunities to apply it to real-life situations and experiences. This is where thematic learning becomes so exciting, purposeful, and powerful and is brought alive through our Enabling Enterprise links where children get to experience academic and life skills which equip them for the next stage of their development. These include problem-solving, teamwork, perseverance, and aiming high.
At Chase Side, we want to ensure all children are given every opportunity to thrive throughout their time with us. We see everyone as a learner for life and we hope none of us will ever lose the enthusiasm and excitement that learning provides. This is encompassed in our vision for the school and its community.
At Chase Side Primary School, we are committed to providing a broad, balanced, and challenging curriculum, which embraces the full range of a child’s development social, physical, creative, cultural, and emotional.
We are committed to preparing children for the next stage of their life experience and we believe that it’s a shared responsibility between the child, parents, carers, and staff. We welcome and encourage parental and community links in all aspects of the curriculum. In all areas of the school curriculum, we aim to develop and respond to children’s curiosity, broaden their horizons, providing them with the skills and knowledge appropriate to their development stage, so they can move towards becoming independent learners.
At Chase Side, purposeful learning experiences are carefully planned within, as well as beyond, the framework of the foundation curriculum and the National Curriculum. Learning experiences and the curriculum is continually developed to meet the needs of our children. We mold our curriculum using a range of DFE tools, Chris Quigley’s Essentials Curriculum and Enabling Enterprise.
