Chase Lane Primary School and Nursery Unit is a large, happy, thriving school. There are approximately 100 members of staff, which comprises of teachers and support staff. Governors and staff work closely together for the benefit of the children and at the center of our thoughts and actions we all have the welfare and happiness of the children and the standards of the children’s achievements across all areas of the curriculum.

The children are all individuals and as such, the staff know each child well and support him/her so they can strive to fulfill their potential in all they undertake. A range of extra-curricular activities is organized for the children to develop their skills in the widest sense.

In our school, we know the children’s first and very important teacher is the parent and when the children commence our Nursery or main school, both parent(s) and staff in particular take on the very important role of educators. A true partnership between home and school is very important. Parents are welcome in school and their views are truly valued. There is at our school an atmosphere of celebration. At every opportunity, staff celebrate, praise, and reward the children for the many excellent things they do, say, and of course, achieve.

The following few lines I feel sum up our school:-

    • Children are different,
    • Children look different,
    • Children behave differently

At Chase Lane Primary School and Nursery Unit, we are committed to the concept of high-quality teaching and learning. We, therefore, believe the children should strive to develop to their full potential. Achievement in all areas of the curriculum is celebrated. To ensure that we can meet these expectations, we believe our teaching approaches should comprise a healthy mix of class, individual, and group teaching, but at the very heart of whichever approach adopted at a given time is experiential learning.

Children, governors, learning support assistants, nursery nurses, office staff, parents and teachers, are all learners together. A real and meaningful partnership between these groups enhances quality education. Everyone in school is special and enriches the life of the school.

All members of the school community are to show respect to each other by always listening to one another and of course all staff take pride in themselves and their work. In striving to continually improve the quality of learning and teaching it is necessary for the school and all its members to be open to critical scrutiny by people within and beyond. Indeed developing a quality curriculum will require staff to share their practice and be willing to submit it to constructive analysis from colleagues and others.
