Cardinal Pole Catholic School is a co-educational school, which seeks applications from children who can benefit from, and contribute to, the religious atmosphere of the school. Students will be admitted at age 11 regardless of ability or aptitude. Whenever there are more applicants than places, priority will always be given to Catholic applicants following the oversubscription criteria set out in the admissions policy.
As a Catholic school, we aim to provide a Catholic education for all our students. Catholic doctrine and practice permeate every aspect of the school’s activity. It is therefore essential that the Catholic character of the school’s education is fully supported by all the families in the school. All applicants and candidates are expected to give their full, unreserved, and positive support for the aims and ethos of the school.
The Governing Body has sole responsibility for applications to the school and intends to admit the Published Admission Number of 180 students to year 7 in September 2017. A Supplementary Information Form (SIF) and the Diocesan Certificate of Catholic Practice, should be completed and returned to the school together with a copy of the Baptismal certificate (only practicing Catholic applicants need to complete the Priest Reference Form). A Common Application Form (CAF) must be sent to your Local Authority.
If you do not complete and return these forms by the closing date the Governing Body may be unable to consider your application fully and it is unlikely that your child will be offered a place at the School. Applications received after the closing date will be dealt with after the initial allocation process has been completed.
At Cardinal Pole Catholic School, we offer a broad and balanced curriculum. In addition to the core and Ebacc subjects, students study subjects around enterprise, the creative and expressive arts, allied with our extensive co-curricular offer. Our curriculum is designed to develop students to reach their full potential, academically spiritually, culturally, and morally.
Cardinal Pole Sixth Form is rapidly acquiring a reputation of excellence for delivering high-quality education to our students. We are ranked in the top 25% of Sixth Forms nationally for value-added over the last three years. Based at our new building on Morning Lane, our Sixth Form provides specialized classrooms, containing state of the art IT facilities and a dedicated resources and study area. A large common room is also available to our students throughout the day. At Cardinal Pole, students receive the high-quality education they deserve. We expect all of our students to proceed onto prestigious University degree courses or into further vocational training of the highest order.
Cardinal Pole School is a Catholic community with a long history of success, with state-of-the-art facilities. It is a well-established mixed 11-19 comprehensive school with a wealth of achievements and experience. Cardinal Pole Catholic School is described by Ofsted 2017 as a 'Good school with Outstanding 6th Form'. The Diocese of Westminster in their recent inspection awarded us Outstanding in every category. Post 16 results are consistently graded 'outstanding' and result at GCSE compare well against nationals and students make excellent progress.
A real strength of the school is the combination of academic success underpinned by a shared ethos based on Catholic Christian values and an emphasis on nurturing positive relationships for which they were praised in the recent Ofsted. The school is led by highly qualified and dedicated professionals. Our most recent inspection in October 2016 from the Diocese of Westminster not only graded the school as outstanding in every category, but the report also commented that our ‘distinctive inclusive ethos of this school is tangible in every area of school life from classroom to corridors and in relationships between students and staff and described progress as outstanding. Importantly, it described the school as a ‘safe place that allows all to flourish and a place where ‘Students make outstanding progress.
