Indian Schools in Oman, established by the Board of Directors aim primarily to educate the students of the Indian Community residing within the sultanate of Oman. The Schools function and operate as non-political, secular, non-profit making, and self-sustaining institutions. Indian Schools in Oman, impart quality education to children of the Indian diaspora and also to the children of other nationalities through 19 schools across Oman.
All schools are governed and mentored by the fifteen-member Board of Directors, collectively striving to provide quality education to over 37,000 students. Individual schools are further mentored by a group of Directors of the Board, who actively support, guide, and monitor the functions of the institutions.
The Board of Directors strives to provide affordable quality education aiming at the overall development of the children. Every effort is made by the Board of Directors to ensure that no Indian child is deprived of education for any reason, whatsoever. To provide the best to our children, the Board of Directors continuously endeavor to improve the facilities in Indian Schools and also to expand the infrastructure. Indian School Muladha is one of the institutions under the umbrella of the Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Oman.
The Indian School, Muladha started in 1991, is an English medium Co-educational School managed by a committee nominated by His Excellency The Ambassador of India – The Patron of the school. The school has started in a small building with 9 teachers and 90 students, Indian School Muladha is now one of the largest interior schools in the Sultanate of Oman having around 2500 students and adequately staffed. It is located in a sprawling 16 acres of lush green land in sharp contrast to the desert enveloping it. It has sufficiently developed infrastructure facilities and 60 sections of classes from KG to XII function in the premises. Facilities for recreation and physical exercises are plenty and the curricular work is strongly supported by well-equipped Laboratories and a Library.
The school is equipped with Junior and Senior Computer Labs having sufficient computers, updated with the latest information in the Cyberworld. Children involve themselves in various Inter-house Sports and Cultural activities regularly. They often bring credit to the school at interschool events and other cultural activities organized in the Sultanate of Oman. The school also pioneered two major interschool festivals – an Arts Festival, Sports Festival, and Annual School Exhibitions.
The school regularly conducts innovative staff training workshops to update the methods of teaching. Parents Orientation programs for the parents of the Board exam students are conducted in addition to regular Students’ Orientation programs for Board exam students. The school’s performance at the All India Sec. and Sr. School Certificate Examination has been commendable.
Various Olympiads and other competitive exams are regularly conducted and certificates of high distinction, credit, and achievement are secured by a large number of students. Students benefit immensely from Picnics and Educational Tours organized by the school regularly.
Parent-Teacher meetings are arranged regularly and parents get the opportunity to discuss their wards’ performance and receive proper guidance to improve the same. Remedial classes are arranged for the students of classes X & XII. The students who need more guidance can meet the concerned subject teachers and clarify their doubts, during this period. This arrangement enables them to have more interaction with the subject-teachers, to gain confidence to face the Board Examinations. ‘GURUKULAM’ for the academically weak students of class X & XII is arranged every year in two phases to enable them to face the board examinations confidently.
As part of awareness programs, various special days like Environment Day, World Literacy Day, Hindi Day, World Ozone Protection Day, World Tourism Day, Gandhi Jayanthi, World Habitat Day, World Food Day, The UN Day are celebrated. Aurora, Bodmas, Spectrum, Rachana, Archives, Kairaly, and Darpan the newsletters which are released every year reflect the achievements we have made in the curricular and co-curricular areas.
We have sufficient space to absorb the expansion and up-gradation of the school in the next few years. We have constructed a play area for the KG Section ‘KIDS WORLD’. More play-way methods are anticipated at the lower levels and a greater emphasis is being placed on the development of the individual child as a person and a member of the society. We hope to grow into a fine educational establishment any Indian can be proud of.
The School aims at the development of the integrated personality of each pupil. To this end, the School provides an all-round education academic, moral and physical. Apart from well qualified and efficient teaching staff, the School is equipped with all modern facilities for coaching the students from K.G. I level, including audiovisual lab and a well-equipped computer training section. Amenities for playing almost all games are provided. A vast area of the campus has been developed for sports and games, especially for playing cricket, basketball, hockey, and football. Activities like School Parliament, Arts Club, and Publication of NewsLetter provide enough exposure to students for their overall devel¬opment. Modern Science laboratory has been built as per specifications. The existing library is being recouped to have sufficient books including reference books. As a part of the work experience and career guidance program, the students of this school have developed an agricultural farm and it is being maintained by them.
