In a setting that is rich in history and tradition, King’s Academy is committed to providing a comprehensive college-preparatory education through a challenging curriculum in the arts and sciences an integrated co-curricular program of athletics, activities, and community service, and a nurturing residential environment. Our students will learn to be independent, creative, and responsible thinkers within an ethical community that encourages young men and women of diverse backgrounds and beliefs to excel, to cherish one another, and to prepare for leadership. King’s Academy, an independent, coeducational boarding and day school, will provide outstanding young men and women from Jordan, the Middle East, and beyond an educational experience unlike any available in the region.

Blending an American style of education rooted in the liberal arts and sciences with Middle Eastern history, traditions, language, and cultural values, the Academy will feature close teacher-student interaction, the most current technological resources, and a stimulating array of curricular and extracurricular activities designed to help students flourish intellectually and personally. Welcoming talented students from all backgrounds, religions, and social classes, the Academy aims to foster empathy, tolerance, and harmony. Through the active participation of students and teachers in a self-governing community, it will prepare students for future roles as leaders in government, business, and civic life.

The King’s Academy campus is unique in the Middle East. Designed by renowned Egyptian architect and Director of the Prince’s School of Traditional Arts in London Khaled Azzam, the campus and buildings are constructed on an extensive 575-dunum site (144 acres) and comprise some 34 major buildings.

These include state-of-the-art classrooms, laboratories, and a 50,000-book library, a multi-faith spiritual center and garden, dormitories incorporating faculty family apartments, and a magnificent auditorium that will serve not just the school but the nation as well. King’s Academy admits students of any race, color, creed, or national origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the Academy and do not discriminate based on these differences. We celebrate the differences in background, circumstances, and educational experiences of our various students and value the diverse perspectives that each contributes to the school community.

Grounded in the liberal arts and sciences, the academic program at King’s Academy provides opportunities for both breadth and depth of study. We offer Advanced Placement exams in 27 subjects, as well as a variety of electives in history, religion, and the arts, including courses in vocal and instrumental music, dance, theater, sculpture, drawing, and painting.

Following our five Guiding Principles—respect, a love of learning, responsibility, the need for an integrated life, and global citizenship—the goal of education at King’s Academy is to ensure that students emerge with the knowledge and skills that will allow them not merely to gain admission to the most selective colleges and universities in the world, but more importantly to develop their full potential as human beings.

At King’s Academy, we stress canonical approaches to the acquisition of understanding, as well as less traditional means, such as collaborative small group work individual research and a “portfolio” approach, in which students demonstrate their understanding through projects and activities, not just through exams. Each term, students take seven or eight courses, most meeting for 45 minutes a day. During their junior and senior years, students will have the option of taking several advanced or interdisciplinary elective courses.

    Throughout the curriculum we emphasize:

    • Mastery of written and oral expression in both Arabic and English and the related skills of interpretation, analysis, and argument
    • Quantitative literacy, scientific investigation, and the responsible, thoughtful use of technology
    • The exercise of critical and ethical judgment as well as a rigorous inquiry into the world’s major religious, philosophic, and literary traditions
    • The cultivation of imagination and empathy
    • Active, engaged learning.
