Since its founding in 1948, Istituto Aleardo Aleardi has been an innovative center of education. In 1996, the school continued this tradition with the inauguration of its international section, the International School of Verona. In recognition of the ever-changing world within which we live, the whole school strives to prepare students for the world of tomorrow, offering a demanding cross-cultural curriculum that opens doors worldwide through international examinations and certifications that culminates in the IB Diploma. We currently serve over 700 students from the ages of 3 – 18 that represent over 20 different nationalities.
Students work in the primary vehicular language of English and develop bilingualism through Italian lessons in recognition of, and appreciation for, the great culture that our city and country have to offer. It is exactly this blend of national and international programs that exposes our students to the best practices in education and gives them the strongest possible bases for their continuing education.
Admission to the International School of Verona is open to students of all nationalities who demonstrate the ability to access and benefit from the challenging curriculum and programs offered by the school. Students are admitted contingent on the availability of space within the target class, appropriate age, demonstration of linguistic competency, appropriate academic preparation, and demonstration of proper motivation. The school may ask prospective students to sit formal written evaluations to verify their preparation.
The nursery curriculum is based on the integration of the best of Italian and international programs whilst utilizing English teaching methodology and didactic approaches. For the three years, children will develop a foundation for primary school as they explore numeracy, language, and literacy, science, social studies, art, creativity, and music. Students are encouraged to use a problem-solving approach and to discuss, compare and share results and the place they have in the world around them.
Throughout the primary program, children will study Art, English and Italian, History, ICT, Geography, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education, and Science while participating in a wide range of diverse learning which enables our students to assimilate a broad range of linguistic skills relevant to the primary year's objectives.
