We endeavor to provide a happy, secure environment so that all children will progress with enjoyment and develop an eagerness to learn. Opportunities occur during the year for you to visit the school and to discuss your child’s progress with the class teacher. We actively encourage and promote parental involvement in the school. When parents, guardians, teachers, and management are working together, the children flourish. The school enjoys the ongoing support of the Parents’ Committee. The school encourages punctuality but accepts that late arrivals do and will happen, but it is most important that lateness does not prevent attendance.
A note should be written to the teacher to explain all pupil absences on the first day after the child returns. Please write the note in the section at the back of your son's homework diary. It should be noted that St. John Bosco's must report absences over 20 days under the 2000 Education (Welfare) Act. St. John Bosco’s Senior Boys NS is a primary school providing primary education to pupils from Second to Sixth Class. By the requirements of the Children First Act 2015, Children First: National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children 2017, the Child Protection Procedures for Primary and Post Primary Schools 2017, and Tusla Guidance on the preparation of Child Safeguarding Statements, the Board of Management of St. John Bosco’s Senior Boys NS has agreed the Child Safeguarding Statement set out in this document.
The Board of Management recognizes that child protection and welfare considerations permeate all aspects of school life and must be reflected in all of the school’s policies, procedures, practices, and activities In policies, procedures, practices, and activities, the school will adhere to the following principles of best practice in child protection and welfare. This Acceptable Use Policy aims to ensure that pupils will benefit from learning opportunities offered by the school's Internet resources safely and effectively. Internet use and access are considered a school resource and privilege. Before signing, the AUP should be read carefully to indicate that the conditions of use are accepted and understood. This version of the AUP was created in November 2016 by the Staff and Board of Management of Saint John Bosco National School.
