Peak School is a community-oriented two-form entry school with a total enrolment of 360 students. Peak School is part of the English Schools Foundation (ESF) and was founded in 1911. We pride ourselves on being a community school that respects and appreciates the contributions of everyone involved. We value the high levels of parent participation and involvement and see this as an integral part of your child’s education.

We think Peak School is a special place and as an accredited IB World School as well as full accreditation from the Council of International Schools and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges you can be assured Peak School is also a school with high standards.

Peak offers the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) which is based on an inquiry approach to learning. We live by and up to all the attributes and attitudes of the Learner Profile to develop students who are open-minded, knowledgeable, confident, caring, and internationally-minded.

The school is to be commended for the priority that is given to developing and maintaining strong and open communication channels on a variety of levels. The school has developed a culture of openness and exudes a welcoming atmosphere that is based on a common understanding of the value of community and respect.” IB Evaluation Report 2013.

At Peak School, we aim to become effective communicators, confident critical thinkers, and enthusiastic life-long learners. In partnership with our community, we strive to have integrity and be socially responsible global citizens.

We view all of our school community as learners. Through providing a broad and balanced, inquiry-based international curriculum we aim to become:-

    • Inquirers – We nurture our curiosity, developing skills for inquiry and research. We know how to learn independently and with others. We learn with enthusiasm and sustain our love of learning throughout life.
    • Thinkers – We use critical and creative thinking skills to analyze and take responsible action on complex problems. We exercise initiative in making reasoned, ethical decisions.
    • Communicators – We express ourselves confidently and creatively in more than one language and many ways. We collaborate effectively, listening carefully to the perspectives of other individuals and groups.
    • Risk-takers – We approach uncertainty with forethought and determination we work independently and cooperatively to explore new ideas and innovative strategies. We are resourceful and resilient in the face of challenges and change.
    • Knowledgeable – We develop and use conceptual understanding, exploring knowledge across a range of disciplines. We engage with issues and ideas that have local and global significance.
    • Principled – We act with integrity and honesty, with a strong sense of fairness and justice, and with respect for the dignity and rights of people everywhere. We take responsibility for our actions and their consequences.
    • Caring – We show empathy, compassion, and respect. We commit to service, and we act to make a positive difference in the lives of others and the world around us.
    • Open-minded – We critically appreciate our own cultures and personal histories, as well as the values and traditions of others. We seek and evaluate a range of points of view, and we are willing to grow from the experience.
    • Balanced – We understand the importance of balancing different aspects of our lives–intellectual, physical and emotional–to achieve well-being for ourselves and others. We recognize our interdependence with other people and with the world in which we live.
    • Reflective – We thoughtfully consider the world and our ideas and experience. We work to understand our strengths and weaknesses to support our learning and personal development.
